Paper handbills and local speeches on soapboxes got the job done in the 1700s. They would be sufficient alone, if necessary, again.

Paper handbills are still very effective. I advised the employees of a newspaper that their antiwar antiAmerican leanings were not acceptable. The message was delivered via handbill on the windshield of their cars.

The effort was a success. The tone of the paper changed. They did not drop the AP but significantly increased the positive coverage of local units deployed.
