In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
foray \FOR-ay\ noun
1. a sudden or irregular invasion or attack for war or spoils : raid
2. a brief excursion or attempt especially outside one's accustomed sphere *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
The book marks the novelists first foray into nonfiction.
Did you know?
"Foray" comes from Middle English forrayen and probably traces back to an Anglo-French word that meant raider or "forager." It's related to the word "forage," which usually means "to wander in search of food or forage." A "foray," in its earliest sense, was a raid for plunder. Relatively recently, "foray" began to take on a broader meaning. In a sense, a "foray" is still a trip into a foreign territory. These days, though, looting and plundering needn't be involved in a "foray." When you take a "foray," you dabble in an area, occupation, or pastime that's new to you.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Wilson the turkey dies in traffic
Maybe, They’ll learn, and in the next cycle we’ll ave an unapologetic conservative.
I don’t know who disgusts me more this morning Republicans or Catholics.
Is he being served at the local Thanksgiving Day feast?
oh Catholics, by far. Doug Kmiec is at the head of my list, giving cover to the social justice jagoffs in the Church to vote for the socialist. something positively satanic in his stand during this election.
*Sigh*
Yes....It would behoove the powers that be to clean out their American sewers.
i am proud of the Bishops, so many were so outspoken in defense of life, more so than EVER before and came extremely close to losing tax exempt status for their forthrightness.
I likely got 2 dozen calls in the last week from both Parties.... toward the end I’d tell McCain side he had my vote but he’d better turn on the power and stop trying to be Mr Nice Guy because Nice Guys finish last. The Obama callers heard very, very nasty replies.
will the bad news ever end?
it is good news, the turkey was a dem. ; )
Dammit woman, why did you make me go and smile today....

Will the name that dare not be spoken make an appearance during the Oath of Office?
I Barack Hussien Obama....
somebody had to do it!!!!!!!
: ) it was the first time i smiled today when i wrote it!
I don’t think I am wrong about them at all. Only 15% of the Dems were going for Hillary? Hardly that low a percentage.
let me depress you again then... my SIL’s dad, the baptist preacher, is pretty certain we are heading into the end times. he feels the nation turned away from God yesterday.
my point was a greater percentage of OUR OWN voted for obama. as freeper LS has pointed out on his thread, when you have 80% turnout for republicans and a THIRD OF THEM VOTE FOR THE OTHER GUY, what do you do? we can’t look to the dems to win for us, i applaud their 15%, but what in God’s name were the republicans who voted for Obama thinking?
That says it all. Rush is pointing out today that when real conservatism is on the ticket, it wins.
