To A Butterfly
Ive watched you now a full half-hour,
Self-poised upon that yellow flower;
And, little Butterfly! indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless! - not frozen seas
More motionless! and then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!
This plot of orchard-ground is ours;
My trees they are, my Sisters flowers;
Here rest your wing when they are weary;
Here lodge as in a sanctuary!
Come often to us, fear no wrong;
Sit near us on the bough!
Well talk of sunshine and of song,
And summer days, when we were young;
Sweet childish days, that were as long
As twenty days are now.
Stay near medo not take thy flight!
A little longer stay in sight!
Much converse do I find in thee,
Historian of my infancy!
Float near me; do not yet depart!
Dead times revive in thee:
Thou bringst, gay creature as thou art!
A solemn image to my heart,
My fathers family!
Oh! pleasant, pleasant were the days,
The time, when, in our childish plays,
My sister Emmeline and I
Together chased the butterfly!
A very hunter did I rush
Upon the prey:with leaps and springs
I followed on from brake to bush;
But she, God love her, feared to brush
The dust from off its wings.

I'm a poet, but I don't know it.
Its my feet you see, they're Longfellow's.
I'm probably not remembering it all or correctly, but its the essence of a little ditty that my dad coined when he was young.

LOL
Thanks for your cute poem, Fichori.
We have other topics on our Menu ... Let me see if I can find something that I saved.
Wealth Distribution ....
As a Business owner who employs 70 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama, will be our next President, and that my Taxes and Fees, will go up in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure, that the customer will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about, 8%. I will also have to lay off six of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and I didnt know how to choose who will have to go.
So, this is what I did. I strolled thru the parking lot and found, eight Obama bumper stickers on my employees cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.
I cant think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.

Gorgeous!
I remember once when I was little, in the fall. We had a huge oak tree in the yard. I noticed that it was...wiggling. On closer inspection, the entire canopy was covered with Monarchs. They were on their way to Mexico. They stayed for a day or two and then they were gone. It was the coolest thing. There must have been thousands, and it opened up a whole new world to a curious little girl!

Good Saturday Morning.
I love November. I love fall.
November 2008 will end up the most significant month/year in our nation's history.
I pray that this will be the month that God's power upon America will empower Her to elect John McCain and Sarah Palin as the President of the United States.
Everything else " pales" before us right now...

Garden girl...what a memory.
We have a huge Oak on our front lawn. I will have to find a photo of the leaves that fall every year.
This year the branches got so heavy they started to fall.....I mean large branches! We had to have "her" trimmed! The " falling" won't be near as colorful this year.
Our daughter loves to come home from school and roll in those leaves!

Gimme It!
My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways. Isaiah 55:8
I heard the screams long before I could see him, but as I wheeled my grocery cart around to the next aisle of the store, there he was!
With angry tears streaming out of squinty eyes, the little boy was shouting, Gimme it! His mom glanced at me for a moment. I wont debate the merits of her actions, but, embarrassed and worn down, she grabbed the cheap trinket and tossed it into her cart.
I think I recognized that kid. He looked a lot like me. Yes, Ive often been the willful child. And sometimes Ive even pleaded with God, Why not? Why cant I have it? On occasion, Gods given me what I wanted, but not because I wore Him down. No, I think He wanted me to see what happens when I put myself in charge.
What we think is best is not necessarily the best that God desires for us. In Isaiah 55:8, the Lord said, My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways.
In his book Days of Grace, tennis champion Arthur Ashe paraphrased James 1:5 when he wrote this advice to his young daughter: Ask God for the wisdom to know what is right, what God wants done, and the will to do it.
Thats just the kind of sincere prayer that God wants to hear from His children.
We cant presume to know whats best
When we begin to pray;
So we must ask, What honors God?
Then seek His will and way. Sper
If God doesnt give us what we ask for, we can be sure that He has something far better.

Amen, I am praying for the same but a little t.v. this morning made me down-hearted.....I must trust my Faith more than t.v., I am sure!

Good morning Amy's Place!

There is nothing quite like a sunrise On a chilly November morning Bundled up in a coat and scarf Just freshly awake and yawning
Sometimes a little fog will drift Along a nearby pond Awesome colors fill the sky Above the windmill and beyond
Tiny chirps from the trees above Tell you birds are rising too Air so crisp and freshly delicious Visible drops of morning dew
Its a perfect way to start the day With an early morning surprise When startling colors swipe across The sky of a November sunrise!
