Do you know what happened 158 years ago this fall... back in 1850?

California became a state.
The people had no electricity.
The state had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gunfights in the streets.

So basically nothing has changed except the women had real boobs and the men didn’t hold hands.

He Ain't Heavy

Lyrics

The road is long with many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where; Who knows where
But I'm strong, strong enough to carry him
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

So on we go, his welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear, we'll get there
For I know, he would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

If I'm laden at all, I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

It's a long, long road from which there is no return
While we're on the way to there, why not share
And the load doesn't weigh me down at all
He ain't heavy he's my brother

He's my brother
He ain't heavy, he's my brother

I will be away much of Saturday.

I plan to attend Jim’s brother’s funeral mid morning. Since I will be in Fresno, I hope to also run a couple of errands.

I apologize for not getting the “Holidays” posted on Friday; I may not get them posted again today. Thank you for understanding.

Have a beautiful Saturday and a Blessed Sunday.

Good Morning, jaycee..Thank you so much!
I was sound asleep by 6:30 last night..did not wake up until 4am..I think the fact my battery was dead when my DIL took me back to my car added to my exhaustion..Luckily a nice clerk at the convenience store called a wrecker..which arrived promptly and I did not delay my DIL but a few minutes..The man who jumped the battery said..I’ll bet you don’t drive much so your battery doesn’t stay charged up..and sitting in the cold got it..all true..
It all worked out but by the time I tended the kitties, unpacked the car, fixed dinner..my eyes were heavy and I just crashed.
I am still catching up..love your lady in red!

That is so pretty and touching~~I remember years ago Father Flannagan’s Boys Home used that motto for their home. They’ve made advances now and it has a new name and is for boys and girls. In our earlier years my hubby and I sent small donations to Father Flannagan.

A Convenient Christianity
Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. —Matthew 16:25

So many television programs, so little time to watch them. Apparently that’s what our culture thinks, because now technology allows us to see an hour-long program in just 6 minutes or less! The Minisode Network has pruned episodes of popular series into shorter, more convenient packages for interested viewers. “The shows you love—only shorter” is how it’s advertised. All to make our life more convenient.

Some have tried to make the Christian life more convenient. They choose to practice Christianity on Sunday only. They attend a religious service at whatever church makes them most comfortable. They give a small offering and are nice to fellow churchgoers—nothing that requires much effort on their part. That way they can have the rest of the week to themselves, to live as they please.

That would be a convenient Christianity. But we know that following Jesus is a lifestyle and not a Sunday-only convenience. Being a “disciple” calls for giving up our lives for Him (Matt. 16:25). It’s about living as Jesus calls us to live, daily giving up our plans and purposes for His. A relationship with Him causes us to be concerned with our thoughts, decisions, attitudes, and actions—all to make our life joy-filled for us and pleasing to God.

The Christian life is more than just
A prayer of faith made in the past;
It’s dedicating every day
To live for Christ and what will last. —Sper

Faith in Christ is not just a single step but a life of walking with Him.
