A Soldier’s Heart
by Dustin Rogers
They dont know why we do it.
They dont see what we see.
They dont know why we risk our lives for a war that isnt even ours.
Its not for publicity but for love.
That is it.
It is all for love.
It is as simple as that.
For the brotherly love of the men next to us and for the loved ones we have left back home.
The times are changing and freedom is no longer free.
So we must fight to keep our families free and safe.
For we are not afraid to die because we will know in our hearts that our family will be safe.
It is truly an honor to give your life for the ones you love and know.
So we do this for our moms and dads.
Our brothers and sisters.
Our friends back home.
For the stranger on the side of the street.
For the people who have crushed our hearts.
And for the guy who said that we would never amount to anything.
Because we love and care about them all and always will no matter what they have done.
That is why I am a soldier and always will be till the day I die.
So the next time you see a soldier remember the word Semper Fi.
A word that means always faithful, which is what we are.
Well, we had fun with them. :) Thanks, Amy. There are some that will always be favorites - wolfie made several cuties for us, too. :)
Semper Fi, Sgt! And, thank you for those words, and for your service to our country. My husband was in the USMC, also! God Speed! (And, please jump in often! The water’s just right!)
Marissa and I had a wonderful day. Yesterday I saw some cute dresses at Costco but nothing in her size. So today we went to another Costco ... still found nothing in her size. Sigh ... we did buy her a new robe and nightgown.
Then we went to a local dept store to return some pants that I bought for hubby. While there we checked the children’s dept. Yeahhhhh ... We found a deep red velvet dress with white “fur” collar and cuffs. Perfect for a Christmas Tea and she loved it. Good news, it was marked as $54 but had a 50% discount and they had a 1-day sale with another 15% off so it was very reasonable.
We had lunch at a salad bar restaurant and then went to BaskinRobbins for ice cream. All in all, it was a great day.
Hope you had a beautiful day too, Billie.
I think this lady and the one Meg posted a few posts up must be from the same era - those hats are HUGE! :)
I have that graphic noted that the last time I used it was February 2005. I think it was originally used in 2004.
You do have a way with words, Maj - and I like your illustration!
:)
Nite, Jaycee. Pleasant dreams.
Nite Meg. Wishing you a restful night.
Good night, Yorkie. Sweet dreams.
Thank you, Dubya. That is beautiful.
God Bless and Protect our Military.
I love poppies - their stems are so tall and graceful and the blooms are so bright and colorful. I am partial to the red ones. I have a beautiful sofa pillow with red poppies on it, and I painted that same design on a white porcelain umbrella stand. :)
Regarding poppies, I only wish there were some way to cut them, and keep them blooming in the house!
Well, it is gorgeous - the colors in it are spectacular. :)
No, I was talking about Amy's illustration - centipedes, etc. in that refrigerator! LOL
Not really - didn't we just have it? :) However, I did do some Christmas shopping this afternoon.
Yes, I did know you were kidding. Not to worry. :)
We agree. :)
