Thursday 11am - A UFO witness from Brinkhill, Louth says he is worried about being abducted by aliens after repeatedly seeing triangle-shaped aircraft near his home He said: "I have been watching these space ships for six weeks now, and saw eight together on September 25 and more again last night. It was really spooky and I can say for sure that any explanation these are just Chinese lanterns is ridiculous."

Right.

Have you ever talked to physicists most likely to be knowledgeable about such?

The one’s I’ve talked to declare that “ball lightening”

is a hoax from the authorities to distract people away from the reality.

That there’s no such thing.

Whatever it is, it’s not lightening.

Electrified orbs, fireballs and the like have been part of the phenomena for centuries.

I think Stanton Friedman has done a good job on the latest on that case.

Particularly in tracking down the astronomer who ended up constructing several versions of the 3D star map Betty described . . . before the astronomers had been able to find that whole region . . . but when they did—it matched perfectly.

True.

But some folks are so . . . freaked out by facing reality they never stop the nervous and absurd kind of ‘laughter.’

I have, and they were unsure of the exact source. So the description ‘ball lightening’ will have to do, until someone figures out where it really comes from.

I did not see any conventional lightening strike, the stuff just appeared. It lasted for minutes not seconds. In both cases, it was overcast, cold and snowy.

It just disappeared as fast as it showed up.

I do know it's not a hoax, it's real.

I’m certain it’s real, too.

I’m just saying calling it “ball lightening”

was concocted to make it sound like a natural phenomenon—which it evidently is not.

Though lightening can do some strange things very occasionally, that kind of behavior doesn’t fit any lightening model any expert in such has ever been able to devise, that I’ve read of.

He’s quite a friendly old curmudgeon.

I’ve enjoyed quite a number of chats with him.

He doesn’t suffer fools much at all and certainly not gladly. That can be fun to watch.

He’s shredded Sagan and a host of other debunkers rather handily with 3/4ths of his brain tied behind his back.

I've seen that video a number of times and have also seen it explained. Those 'orbs' were proven to be flares used by a para-team in formation.

As the video plays, you'll be able to see them disappear one by one behind the mountain ridge they were filmed over.

'Ball lightning'

"Nobel Prize winners in physics, Niels Bohr and Pjotr Kapitza, claim to have seen it. "

'Ball lightning' created in German laboratory Wednesday, 7 June 2006Cosmos Online

A ball-lightning-like plasma cloud is produced in an underwater discharge

BERLIN, 7 June 2006 - Luminous balls of plasma that hover above water like ball-lightning have been generated in the lab by a group of German physicists. While they are not saying it is ball-lightning, they claim that their result will help solve the mystery of this natural phenomenon.

Ball-lightning is a luminous phenomenon that occurs during thunderstorms. It is a mystery, however, why the lightning is visible not as a brief flash, like normal lightning, but for several seconds. Ball lightning has never been reliably photographed, nor studied in the lab. However many historical figures claim to have witnessed it. Besides Pliny the Elder, Charlemagne and Henry II of England, in modern times the Nobel Prize winners in physics, Niels Bohr and Pjotr Kapitza, claim to have seen it.

The evidence is that there’s some capacity to prevent folks thinking of cameras in some contexts.

There's nothing mysterious about the psychological phenomenon of hesitation, of being stunned either by fear or awe. The crap about aliens implanting orders is just that - crap.

In this case, however, the man claims multiple sightings over several weeks.  Surely he's had a million thoughts between those sightings, one idea being "I need a camera!"

Obviously there's no implant preventing him from seeking publicity in a newspaper.

Absence of evidence about the conspiracy just reaffirms the power and control that the conspiracy wields.

Stanton Friedman is a certifiable wacko, just another camera whore.

Dr. Simon is/was on record as saying he never once believed the story of the Hill’s. All he was interested in was relieving their anxiety.

Ball Lightning Mystery Solved? Electrical Phenomenon Created in LabBrian Handwerk for National Geographic News

January 22, 2007

Brazilian scientists may have solved a shocking scientific mystery by creating ball lightning in the lab.

Physicist Antonio Pavão and doctoral student Gerson Paiva of the Federal University of Pernambuco have created orbs of electricity about the size of golf balls that mimic natural ball lightning.

The fluffy-looking spheres spin, throw off sparks, and vibrate.

They also move erratically about the lab, rolling around on the floor, bouncing off objects, and burning whatever they touch (see enlarged photo for stills from laboratory video).

People have reported seeing ball lightning in nature for hundreds of years, but there is no scientific consensus as to what causes the phenomenon....."

I got one just for the usual - friends, family, experimenting.

Now you can get a good basic camera from a big name like Canon for around a hundred, maybe less depending on where you shop, and the image quality is typically excellent. No need to throw money at rebadged junk from who knows where. And memory cards are cheap.

Blimps don’t suddenly go from a crawl to many thousands of miles per hour . . . nor do they turn right angles at fast speeds.

At least that we know! :-)
