I got one just for the usual - friends, family, experimenting.
Now you can get a good basic camera from a big name like Canon for around a hundred, maybe less depending on where you shop, and the image quality is typically excellent. No need to throw money at rebadged junk from who knows where. And memory cards are cheap.
So far I’ve managed to take more pictures with my little digital Sony point-and-shoot than with my big DSLR. I’m afraid to take the DSLR anywhere if I’d have to leave it in the car ‘cause it might get stolen. The little Sony I can hide easily.
