Has Che Guevera infitrated FR?
South America? | Oct 15, 2008 | My Computer

Did I miss something? Why does Che appear in the address bar and the tab when I open Free Republic? Do I need to refresh my tinfoil beanie?

The night Buckwheat got shot had to be some of the best comedy ever to grace TV.

Looks like you have a virus.

I would take out the hard drive and scrub it with bleech and maybe some 409.

If that didn’t fix it, you might try right clicking on your bookmark for FR and choosing ‘properties’. From there, you should be able to check which icon has been set to be used for that bookmark.

If that doesn’t work or you can’t find the icon screen, you’d probably be well served by running some spyware/adware scanner software.

I usually use vinegar and a toilet brush for computer components.

Good news. Rebooting takes care of a lot of bugs.

Fear not.. its a bug with the stupid “favicon.ico” or “myicon.ico” on websites, and the browser. You might have been on another site that uses that as the site icon and bookmarked it.

Delete the FR bookmark, close your browsers and clean cache, open it back in, type the FR address and re-bookmark with a clean bookmark.

Or just some nasty spyware. Here’s 3 free progarams I use. The last two even repaired some serious damage that wasn’t a virus but just as bad;

You've been soiled with a BHO...a Browser Helper Object. Download and run "HiJackThis" and then look for unwanted BHOs or other nasties in the report it generates.

Unwanted BHOs? I can relate to that this election season.

Failing that, you have to find a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.

Sacrifice the cow and and burn outside your camp (the Mount of Olives will work nicely, if nearby). Cedar wood, hyssop, and scarlet should be added to the fire, and the remaining ash is placed in a vessel containing pure water. The water must be “living” or spring water.

Sprinkle this water on your computer.

I forgot to add that at no time have any of those programs ever gave the message “ we found your problem, now pay us for the full version to fix it.” Hundreds out there do.

Didn’t you read the tech manual all the way through? *rolls eyes* Honestly...

The cedar and hyssop are correct but the scarlet is only for the Red X Blemish. To rid yourself of the Browser Bugaboo, the final portion in the flames must be frankinsence!

And don’t forget the timing, which is crucial - full moon with Uranus rising.

The reason I use all three is that just one doesn't take care of all spyware. The spyware makers aim at getting around the most popular anti spyware programs. So what one doesn't catch the others usually do.

Frankinsence is new testament. Sheesh.

(For those that do not get the joke, my “receipe” is the Levitical method of clearing ritual impurity so as to enter the Holy-of-Holies and not have the Nazis-at-the-end-of-Lost-Arc experience.)

This has happened to me. Sometimes a site I have bookmarked takes the favicon of a site I have visited.

Not sure how to fix it, but try this :

Remove FR from your bookmarks.
Delete all internet files. Clear your cache. Possibly use a program like Ccleaner to remove all of your temporary internet files.

After you have done that, go back to FR and re-bookmark it.

I hope that will solve your problem.
