Funniest movies of all time

Hi fellow Freepers. I did a search and did not find this topic. If you know of a previous post, please redirect.

I've been hogging our Netflix (history, documentary, military genres) and realize the wife and kids need some levity.

Would you all take the time and give me an opinion of what you consider to be the best funny movies you've seen. I'm talking from the silent era of Charlie Chaplin up to the most present ala American Carol.

It doesn't matter if it's dark humor to vulgar humor to Walt Disney. Thanks for your input!

Actually it WAS supposed to be funny. “What’d you expect, another pretty face?”, “We’ve just destroyed the French Air Force!”, “Why gee, Mr. Frankenstein, it’s really good to meet you...” (said to Machine Gun Joe Faturbo).

OMG, Blazing Stewardesses was supposed to feature the Three Stooges:

In Blazing Stewardesses the Ritzes were cast as replacements for The Three Stooges, who dropped out of the film following the death of Moe Howard.

Also from the Wiki article:

The Gorilla may well have been the worst movie the Ritz Brothers ever made.

During the Christmas season, be sure to check out "Bachelor Mother" with Ginger Rogers and David Niven.

The New-Year's-Eve-In-Times-Square sequence has got to be one of the most romantic bits of film ever made. Every modern scriptwriter ought to be locked in a room with duct tape over their mouths and be forced to watch it over and over till they can get it right!
