Screen Shots

Posted on 10/03/2008 7:52:58 AM PDT by 7thson

Last night while watching the debate, I also had FR up and was reading some of the comments. I was surprised to see immediate screen shots of O'Biden and Palin from various Freepers. What software is used to capture these shots and get them immediately on the PC?

They are called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV_tuner_card. Basically you can watch TV on your computer and then take screen captures. Then you have to post the image on the Internet Imageshack or some other site. Then you link to the image.

You need a cable TV wire to hook on to the TV Tuner card. Mine is a inside the computer one but they have USB versions out now which means not opening your PC case.

Which is the best? I'll try to find some reviews and ratings.

I found these screen shots annoying. They added nothing to the FR conversation. They slowed down the refresh and clogged the pages.

Here's an interesting screen shot from the debate. Gotta love those live audience trackers.

Overall, how did the CNN tracking come out as a whole?

I have WinXP and a PCTV card (analog — have been looking around for a digital/HDTV).

I use SnagIt as the capture software to create the individual screencap.

[There are some freeware capture software, too.]

After you make the capture, you need a ‘parking’ website that allows linking to images. You upload your capture and link from that parking website. I use photobucket.com for mine, but there are some others that offer similar service.

That can be an issue. It's up to the poster not to flood a thread with screen captures that don't add to the discussion but sometimes they can be priceless.

Drudge used one of my screen captures one time showing Russert in a split screen shot with Colin Powell who had walked off the MTP set.

I love live threads with screen shots.

I believe you can adjust your browser settings to block the images.
