Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
mine?
~snif~
That was beautiful.
There's a ka-jillion books in the collection (can't really call it a series, because it covers too many centuries and is why too disjointed). I'm hardly the person to tell you where to start reading ... but I would guess The Hobbit would be a good place to start.
It's a series we never watched, but I sure am enjoying a hour or two every day of these marathons!
Aw....
I liked it ok. “Light Entertainment” is what we called it. They had some delightful characters (Rodney) and some wonderful relationships between characters. It seriously lacked in bad bad guys and had an overabundance of Roddenberry Cliches (alternate universes, wacky infections). Anyway, I’m sad to see that story universe end.
Actually, we watched a bit of the first season and most of the second season... or *I* did, anyway.
Well, it's not really ending as terminally as Babylon 5, but they sort of put things into foam peanuts, so perhaps they have a movie or two coming out, like the original SGC series did when it ended.
I'll miss a lot of things about that series. I'll miss screaming at the TV when they let "Michael" escape being nuked three times. But they finally watched him fall off a building ledge, which led me to believe the series was ending.
I will not miss the redshirts using the top sight rail on their P90s as a sight, when it's just an attachment point for a sight.
Yeah, true! But Suzy, to celebrate reaching my 60th year, which I reached this summer, and which seems to have thrilled my kids, but not me, I decided to get back into better physical shape. I finally worked myself up to where I can swim the crawl for 1,000 meters without a break, so I do that now several days a week. I also lost 15 pounds, so I am absurdly pleased with myself.
After my heart scare last Christmas, I got on the stick finally about losing weight, and I lost 45 pounds in 2008! Now that I seem to be done with the A-Fib, I'm in much better shape, and will be looking to lose another 60-70 in 2009! Our #1 son is getting married this year, so I've got a jump on getting ready for that!
Give Jeanne our best, and have a Happy New Year!
Congratulations Suzi, on losing that weight! You must look downright beautiful. And congratulations on the impending marriage of your son! What happy times!
*bats eyes* Why, aren't you just a darlin! ;o)
Sometimes I might be :-)
Happy New Year to you guys too!
Congrats! That’s no small feat! Downright inspiring even.
zzzzzzz....izzit Friday yet?
Yeah... it is...
I’m sort of working today and Talon is not so we are going to repaint our bedroom and bathroom.
As soon as the kids leave, we're taking the extra chairs out of the den so I can have room to move to do my Walk DVD in front of the TV. That way, I can exercise inside until the weather gets warm enough to take our walks outside.
