The Hobbit Hole XXXVII - ...Down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed!

Posted on 09/25/2008 6:43:34 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yes, but I ~am~ old.

Don't say that, cause that would make me, OB, LSA and Sam feel downright ancient! ;o)

Speaking of shows retaurning from hiatus. I know 24 will be back very soon. Also the last half season of Battlestar Galactica will start a week from Friday. They likely will be showing a lot of previous episodes leading up to that.

Not that I’m counting or anything.

But I also din’t turn into raging fanboi either.

No, but you have no problem asking us to do your homework.

Seriously. We're happy to answer questions. Sometimes we even still talk about themovies and stuff here.

Several of us suggested you read the books. Or if not that, watch the movies again. You'd at least pick up that Frodo calls Bilbo "uncle" on more than one occasion.

But, there's a lot of depth and back story that you'd get from the books.

Some of you have been nice about it anyway

;P
Don't mind us. We have been hanging out here quite a while and get be a bit biting in our 'wit' like any group of old friends. So did you get the run down? This here thread started ages ago off an article about some dude that made a Hobbit hole to live in. So people started chatting about it.. and this and that and the movies and any old thing and the threads just kept going. So now it is a pretty darn diverse group of folks that have little but FR and LoTR in common. So far it has spawned relationships, feuds, marriages, and several get-togethers. I joined in when I started stalking one of the posters and others have joined just like you, by stopping by and asking hobbity questions. So feel free to hang or run screaming. :D

No kidding. They are like drinking from an intermiten firehose as far as trying to get the stuff that is in the books out of them. Then again having the books read to me at a young age by my parents is kind of an unfair advantage.

We won't flood, ever... well, at least not without some significant warning such as calls for two of each creature... But Rosie may leak.

Locally, it’s mostly just south of here that is/will be flooded pretty badly.

What stinks is that it’s the same area that was flooded badly in December 2007. They were only *just* finishing the interstate repairs (it was under about eight feet of water at the deepest point), and a lot of people hadn’t recovered yet.

This time around, there’s pretty much NO route between Seattle and Portland—the passes east and west have avalanche danger, so truckers can’t even go the way long way around. That’s going to cost folks money. :-\

*sigh*

Yeah.

But it's not nearly as bad this morning as it was when the rain faucet was on alllll the way last night. That was...impressive.

Except the Chehalis, which they’re saying won’t crest until midnight.

Gonna get wetter there.

But it does seem far more cheerful without torrential downpour banging on the roof.
