I am so sorry to hear about your brother in law, LadyJ. I didn’t know before now. Prayers for his family. So sad.
Hugs to you, jaycee - happy to hear you are feeling better.
Thank you so much, jaycee..You picked a lovely thank you indeed.
Thank you Billie. Checked out the link. Wonderful story. I love the Gold Star Flag and that lovely little dog graphic, laying on the collar of a Navy man’s uniform. Thats what my hubby wore. I always told him I fell in love with that cute little uniform. He was cute in it~~~LOL~~~just like yesterday, really!

"Is dat a puddy kat?" (#2583) :)
Sylvester was an awfully cute baby. :)
Gotta go - dinner bell (on the oven) is calling!
In The Darkness A Single Light
As mist softens the outline of the ruin
the breeze whispers of times a gone
until the first hint of pearl and rose of dawn
highlight the small mountain flowers strewn
Elf home, now stark in the gloom of night
where once music ethereal and sweet
lent added speed and grace to dancing feet
oh so fair of face in each others sight
Green the land, and fair the elf folk
with magic and strength they ruled fair
and justice and right were set with care
until the day the eternal wall failed and broke
Then they came, the minions of the Black Lord
surging across the fair land to stain it red
and not a living thing did they leave but dead
none could stop this evil stygian tinted hoard
There were the Sivians, so tall and wide
and their axes to shatter hall and wall
swift and strong, and cold as winters call
from them there was no place to hide
There came the Hodav cavalry on iron steeds
swift lances to cutoff escape and herd them all
Elvish towns and village fell under a smoky pall
leaving all to the dust of time and the weeds
To came the Old Ones, the Orcs and their ilk
with their notched swords and timeless hate
evil hearts, and hunger for flesh of man and mate
suckled as they were on foul spiders milk
Behind them came the Black Lord in his time
breathing in the death of it all, these tragic plays
for he hated the bright and light of Elvish ways
wanting to see them driven into the black slime
None could stand before him and his black force
and all that was, became as endless shifting dust
and those who ran, did so swift for they must
as the darkness crossed their land on its course
Until one alone upon the Tor stood caring not if he fell
one who would stand, and run no more this day
he who would either win or lose in this final fray
for he would find a way to send the evil back to hell
The Black Lord saw him and strode to the hill
this champion would die as had the rest
for none must escape his dark wrath or test
for darkness can not abide the light it seeks to kill
Mighty the sword and strong the shield of the Lord
but still the hero stood, and waited with burning eyes
for he no longer felt fear or pain, today one of them dies
and the devil take the rest of that ancient evil hoard
the Black Lord, stark soulless wreath strode forth
his sword ready and dripping the stain of innocence
swept back his arm to deliver the blow of arrogance
with all the strength of the wind from the north
It was then the hero moved, a swift and single act
a single thrust of a half broken sword with a yell
and the bitter broken blade bit and burned like hell
and the Black Lord felt his armor as it cracked
The stub of blade burned as a fire in his chest
and where no light had been it now burned so white
and from within the Black Lord glowed with Elvish light
until even his eyes glowed along with the rest
A scream to touch every point in time rang out
to shatter stone and break the grip of even ancient ice
a sound such as the world has never heard twice
a death of primordial evil beyond any mortal doubt
The Dark One fell, turning to black dust upon the storm
and his hoard fell with him, part of him in so many ways
and the watchers on the high hills stood stunned and fey
this thing so wrought by one of Elvish common clay
They found him there on the hill, a silent form standing still
looking out over the land he loved enough to die for
now a stone figure for all of passing time and more
his souls hard paid price for the final power to evil kill
They placed the figure in the Elf Kings great hall
and each passed before and bowed in respect
each took time to remember the battle and to reflect
how they had run, and he had not failed Elf kinds call
A simple boy, a tall child of the elvish clan
with a heart as deep and strong as any ancient King
and he stood for his land while evil ringed
his humble station bettered many a warrior man
A lesson was learned that day, and not to be forgot
a strong land was rebuild upon the ruins to shine again
and there at the side of the Elvish Kings throne, evils Bane
a small boy who changed all, by giving all that was his lot
Thank you for your prayers.
