(Elke) Sommer Leaves as Autumn draws near.
Colors burst in wild explosions
Fiery, flaming shades of fall
All in accord with my pounding heart
Behold the autumn-weaver
In bronze and yellow dying
Colors unfold into dreams
In hordes of a thousand and one
The bleeding
Unwearing their masks to the last notes of summer
Their flutes and horns in nightly swarming
Colors burst within
Spare me those unending fires
Bestowed upon the flaming shades of fall.

A Blade of Grass
Said a blade of grass to an autumn leaf, “You make such a noise falling! You scatter all my winter dreams.”
Said the leaf indignant, “Low-born and low-dwelling! Songless, peevish thing! You live not in the upper air and you cannot tell the sound of singing.”
Then the autumn leaf lay down upon the earth and slept. And when spring came she waked again — and she was a blade of grass.
And when it was autumn and her winter sleep was upon her, and above her through all the air the leaves were falling, she muttered to herself, “O these autumn leaves! They make such a noise! They scatter all my winter dreams.”

Hard to keep up with everyone and their different time zones - it’s 2:35 PM CDT here now, and “left coasters” are prolly still having lunch. :)

Thank you, jaycee. Yes, the way Willie sings it sounds so very romantic. Love his voice and his music. I enjoy listening to a lot of his songs.

“Left Coasters” are all going to LAX to watch American Airlines make an emergency landing with a blown tire - 136 souls on board. Plane is circling between airport and Catalina Islands, dumping fuel. (Coverage on FNC)
Prayers for all involved.

Have been waiting for another State post to be posted at the Finest, is anyone working on one? Ahem! Not to pressure either of you, but...... LOL
Seriously, Lori told me she had Illinois in her sights to complete maybe by the end of September?
Dave said he should get Washington written up sometime soon. They just got back from there a couple of weeks ago, and he needs to get his thinking cap on how to 'write' his part.

I know. It's been this way off and on for several days. I've had to repost several comments, as well as mail, at least two or three times. I hit "post" and it says "done", giving me a blank screen instead of taking me back to the thread, or telling me that my mail has been sent.
Fortunately, I've learned to hit the back arrow and retrieve the message, open another window and see if my post went through or not before 'sending' it again.

Seriously, Lori told me she had Illinois in her sights to complete maybe by the end of September? I am going to try, but I can't promise. I have a busy schedule in September and then a family memorial get-together at Lake Tahoe for my mom in October that is going to be requiring my attention for a few weeks before hand. I will see what I can do. If not the end of September, it will be the end of October. :-)
Waving at my lil' sistah, Aqua! I've missed you!

Can't. Handle. This. :( This thread is slow enough for me with all the heavy graphics when FR is running smoothly. It's not worth the frustration.
Maybe later this evening it will be better.

Just catching up with today's thread!!
WOW OESY!!!!! I have the Original LP of Victory At Sea. Just listening to the theme has brought tears to my eyes.. In the 50's-60's there was such a air of Patriotism... Thanks for sharing.... Polly
