The 2008 peak of hurricane season is ramping up with Gustav and Hanna. The two storms pose threats to the U.S. At least 22 deaths in Hispanola are attributed to Gustav to date, and a Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jamaica. Tropical Storm Hanna has formed in the Atlantic.

I just realized one of the mistakes the idiot from WWL is making. He keeps talking about a 70 mile radius circle of hurricane force winds. Then he shows the effect of a 70 mile diameter circle on his map.
Nagin spoke of a 900-mile footprint.
WWL-weatherboy seems to think that was meant as a 900-mile hurricane impact.
Nagin was talking about the size of the storm on the radar as forecast for Monday.
If I am reading correctly, it will be a Cat 4 at landfall....Katrina was a 3 at landfall....

YES - In the end, I think you’re right.
But this “Bob The Weatherman Dude” sure seems to be making folks think that everything is gonna be OK. He’s kinda scary.
Cat 4 at landfall and cat 4 inland before it starts to lose strength per WDSU
AH, “Max Mayfield,” he was the one to sound the clarion call on Katrina, calling GWB to get him to get LA off their arse. Blanko dithered and lives were lost.
Ah, that explains it well. Thanks!
Ok, I am confused...Why the HECK is Beaumont and other areas sending people to HOUSTON??? Channel 11 news just said they were....now what are these brainiacs gonna do if that storm jogs west and comes into Galv Bay?? Evacuate the 3million or so here plus all the evacuees...I swear people are soooo stupid....
Ok, I feel better....and Mayor Bill White is a buffoon...just had to add that...
The computer models are too much in agreement till it gets over land. I’d be very surprised if it did anything that unexpected at this point.
A weather lady on FNC said that once the storm hits cat 5 at any point, the surge once it makes landfall could be a cat-5 surge, even if the storm itself is cat-4. I never thought about that before.
“Im going to pray for a westward bend for Gustav”
Curse on you!
And with NOLA in the NE quadrant, it could be very, very bad...
TANKS,,,that kicks it back toward Shreveport/Bossier City.
(8 PM TUE),,,Oh well...:0/
All that water being pushed around has to go somewhere. Sadly it looks like it’s going into the Mississippi delta.. again.
We’re in the Baton Rouge area.
Going to bed now, hope I can sleep.
*prayers*
The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the fewer.
Yes, and Rappaport from the NHC just said on WDSU that over land it will slow down. When he was asked if Rappaport had children there now what advice would he give and he replied they’d already be gone.
DUDE!! There are 3 million people in our city....there is your needs of the many!
;0)
Prayers up for you and you loved ones. On the current track you will experience hurricane force winds in BR. If you are staying, get your prep done first thing.
