The 2008 peak of hurricane season is ramping up with Gustav and Hanna. The two storms pose threats to the U.S. At least 22 deaths in Hispanola are attributed to Gustav to date, and a Hurricane Warning is in effect for Jamaica. Tropical Storm Hanna has formed in the Atlantic.

That’s great news. I’m very glad for you (and your son). How far up & out did they go?
Me either....if people will go on.
If the model is correct, we may have a very short week next week!
They’re headed to Chattanooga, TN. I don’t know if they’ll drive straight thru tonight or not. It took them a long time to get out of the city, but they are out and I am so relieved.

Hopefully, enough people now realize that sitting on your ass waiting for the government to carry you to safety is a bad survival plan.
Sigh, I know..
And worse- his entire introduction to the show (prepare for your bp to raise) was showing HIM in the middle of one of his hysterical rants, tears streaming, in NOLA after Katrina...he then talked to the head of FEMA (who seems like he’s on top of it) and berated him..ARE things better...WILL you get people out...ARE there places for them to go..
The Drama of Geraldo continues..
The scientist just said the storm surge up the Mississippi could reach as far as Baton Rouge!
They ain’t got Shep out there showing dead peoplein the street yet do they???
Good goin’! I know you are relieved. I’d be very scared if my kids were in NO without me.. grown or not.
You gotta wonder about that middle one. There must be some reason why they couldn’t just let the traffic stay on the roads they were already on. They’re taking westbound 12 traffic and sending it north on 190, then taking northbound 190 traffic and sending it westbound on 12.
Whoa.
That’s the thing folks forget- it’s all about the surge.
I'm thinking he's an unemployed-come-Monday weather guy.
I suppose he could have made it stronger by saying "if you dial 9-1-1 no one will answer" and "suspicious people could get shot" but I think he made his point.
WDSU team is dead serious in their coverage.
New Orleans will be on the worst side of this storm and then, forecast says it stalls, and New Orleans is a soup bowl.
Let’s hope so- or sooner.
I liked his banners as he ranted. Storm TORE through Cuba...SHEETS of rain...SHRIEKING winds... Yeah. We get it, Jerry. It was a cat-4 storm. Then he had the breaking Fox News Alert that it has OFFICIALLY left Cuba, and is NOW IN THE GULF OF MEXICO. [cue music: bum-bump-BAAAAAA!]
shocking. The storm crossed Cuba and then left Cuba. It’s now in the Gulf.
Now that you meantion it, that is kind of weird. Why not let 12 go west and 190 go north unimpeded?
