(AP) An Italian priest and theologian said Sunday he is organizing an online beauty pageant for nuns to give them more visibility within the Catholic Church and to fight the stereotype that they are all old and dour.

Pornographic depictions of nuns in folk art and “underground” art have been common for hundreds of years in Europe. If you think that everyone in the old days knew nothing of bawdiness and genuflected towards the religious 24/7, you would be wrong.
