Walls fall, here. Preceded by a drunk driver going too fast.

Clearing the way out to the main road A hundred or so yards from our house, almost two years ago.

So. Did Wyerhauser give you the firewood from the downed trees?

These were all private lots -- and believe me, everybody had plenty of firewood next winter.

Even now, a tree came down a couple of weeks ago, was cut up and left by the side of the road (right about where these folks are), and it's still sitting there.

I asked because a friend of mine used to live across the road from a Wyerhauser forest, and because of a tip, Wyerhauser gave them enough firewood to last them the rest of their lives.

And that was never even on their minds. Still, if I had a fireplace, or a wood stove....

Was that a continual supply? Firewood doesn’t stay good forever.

Yep. All they had to do was call and Wyerhauser delivered it. For all I know, they are still getting it.

Wow! That must have been some tip!

We have woodstoves upstairs & down and make good use of them during long power outages.

I expect that with the coming weather, I’ll be getting a firewood delivery right in my driveway this weekend.

We get power outrages once a month here.

I think it was a fairly organized gang of “squatters” who were taking large sections of forest for the black market. I don’t recall how my friend’s hubby got the word, but he was a volunteer fireman, and he called in the tip.

It was evidently a fairly large enterprise.

I grew up with wood/coal stoves, and I love them. I can’t help but wish I were in an area to take advantage of the dead fall and winter kill.

They're irregular here, but the most likely time is November through February, usually front-loaded by autumn wind-storms and otherwise by snowfalls.

Our tradition of doing the turkey in the Weber started with a Thanksgiving day outage (and not the last of same).

I thik I’m going to use ours a lot more this winter. Not only to reduce the heating bills a little, but to use up a lot of now-marginal wood that’s been collecting.
