President Bush tells Putin, The Cold War is over. The days of satellite states and spheres of influence are behind us.
Ah!! True love! A Poulsbo, WA woman was jailed after being accused of beating up her fiance at their prenuptial party because her 12 year old son saw him kissing another woman.
Michael Phelps ties Mark Spitz with seven gold medals in swimming. Saturday the 100 meters butterfly was eeked out by Phelps.
The purple martins have already departed for the year, and I see blackbirds starting to flock up. The robins have stopped their morning greetings, the crickets are chirping away, and the nights are getting cooler.
We still have many splendid weeks left of warm weather.
I remember when my parents celebrated their 25th. Doesn't seem possible that we are approaching that stage.
A belated Happy Anniversary!
Awww, you paint a pretty setting of nature.
We have a pair of Cardinals that come each morning. Blue Jays that screech at me while I feed the squirrels and some strays sparrows. Oh and Morning Doves that drive us all crazy with their same monotonous song each morning and night. One walks the back fence - morning and night mom has named “The Constable”. It might now be the same bird, since they all look alike, but she looks forward to him walking his ‘beat’.
Hubby and I’ve been married 39 years next month.
You kept that a secret.
At the Italian place ..what did you have? Yum!
Thank you!
We’ve been worried about our cell phone signal here, which appeared to be fine on the Verizon map, but is pretty weak in actuality. Since cell phone and internet is critical for running our business, Mr. Prairie has set up his outdoor phone antenna which is magnetized on its base and which he then places on an inverted pork & bean can that is then perched on top of a 15 foot length of PVC.
It’s helping and we hope to be able to limp through the week on less than stellar signal.
Who says functionality cannot mesh with technology...LOL!
We've had a white pidgeon around the neighborhood for the past several weeks. It's very odd and something we haven't seen before.
There's a flock of geese that go over our house in the morning and evenings as they fly to and from a pond not too far from here; Honking up a storm as they go. A harbinger of the changing seasons.
Nothing like good ole American know how.
In all the traveling it sort of snuck up on both of us, to tell the truth. But we managed to celebrate.
I had a half order of spaghetti and sausage. There were fancier things on the menu but this sounded good to me. I still brought half the order home.
Plus the prices were very reasonable. Without ordering drinks and only having water, our bill was under $25. Including a generous tip.
Mr. P is one smart guy!
It's already turning cool and crispy here. All in all, a short, rather dismal summer. Will be happy to hit the road soon for southern climes. I'm going to a TAPROOT (conservatives) annual picnic in nearby forest preserve on Sunday (if it doesn't rain....again). Cheers,
Leni
Usually around late Sept. - Oct. we have geese down here. Huge flocks of them. When they fly over you can’t hear a thing, they are so loud.
Congratulations to you both.
I remember one year going through Katy and an old rice field was white with snow geese. It was a beautiful sight.
We lost W last night. Roomey found him in the back pature. He was Roomey’s buddy. When Roomey would enter the pasture, he’d lope over for pets. He didn’t show last evening...so Roomey checked. Darn.
OK - in case this will segue into a contest, we’re celebrating 43 years of wedded bliss this month - next week, in fact.
Happy anniversary ya’ll.
I’m so sorry. ((till and Roomey))
Who is W?
W was one of our Llamas.
Such a nice little cyber home in Jim Rob's FReepdom this place. We have been here quite a while now. If you include "USA v i42," it's been ten years. [Queue music] "What a long space trip it's been..."
T'is been a great b/day week. Lunch and cards from work on Wed. The First lady gave me breakfast and presents in the morning. Our neighbor gave us a cookout, and a nice present in the evening. Today we head for St. Pete beach to my brother's for some more partying (maybe even more presents...I'm just sooo greedy).
I hope this note finds you well, lysie. And I wish all my FReeper friends a safe and fun Saturday.

OH, I’m so sorry.
