He was probably jealous because she liked the cat better than him... still, the cat didn’t deserve to die for that!

2 years for killing a cat? I know you all love the little... ...pets, but don’t you think this is slightly out of range?

I think it is appropriate. If someone does something like this, I suspect that someone will someday have to follow a blood trail to find a human being on account of this person.

I’m not a cat lover but this woman is probably lucky the guy didn’t kill her.

This is one of those cases where the circumstances dictate the story. If he had stolen and rolled her BMW off of a cliff on purpose, two years wouldn't seem to stiff for that. Throw in malicious torture, and the threat to the mother, and you have a picture of someone who has to be reminded that people who do that shouldn't breathe free air for a while.

This is a lot different than shooting a stray who goes in your garden (which I do not advocate).

Well, I suspect you may be wrong.

When I was a kid, my parents got me a BB-Gun. I shot anything that moved. A year or two later, they got me a .22. I shot anything that moved... ‘cept the neighbor’s dogs. A year or two later, got my first shot gun.... it continued...

Living on the lake up here in MI, had an abundance of Purple Martins. Mom got a big ol’ bird “Apartment” house they we put up. ‘Bout 25’ in the air, it had three stories to it and had about 12 “units” per story. over the years, Mom lost interest in the Martins and they decided to take the house and pole down. Dad had a good laugh when he landed the bird house. “You see this *amn thing?? It looks like Beirut!!” LOL... that sob was shot to hell pretty good!! Stood out about 100 yrds from my bedroom window!

Any who, I’m 45, and NEVER had the thought even enter my head about killing a human the way I did when I “Shot moving targets” as a kid.

Don’t be sucked into the Kum-by-ya crowd. They say the same about killing Bambi.

The guy may have issues, I did not go and follow the link to the article. But I will for the halibut... But, let me tell you. If I lived with a broad and “Her” cat pissed in my clothes or took a dump, rest assured, I’d off the damn thing for that reason... I do know that cats do that and cat urine does not lose it’s scent.

Actually your right . People are really silly when it comes to animals. I agree with you except for one minor situation. If he had killed a boxer instead of a cat he should have had his tongue ripped out, dragged behind a car for 5 miles and then experience an auto de fe if still breathing. Other than that your spot on.

Yes, I just went and read the three paragraph story. The guy threatened a human life, and offed a cat. This would be a legit concern for this guy’s surroundings. Which leads me to believe the punishment was not necessarily because of the cat...

Why not? This action of his was an indirect attack on her. It shows me this guy may be capable of hurting her next.

Wow, I mean I hunted deer, squirrel, rabbit, etc. growing up but I never had any fascination with killing things for no reason.

Thankful to see justice done on behalf of Tweety the cat. The sad truth is that when people are abusive, or violent towards animals, it will move on to people. Thanks for the aticle in regards to current events and cats/kittens. =^..^=

Well, we do have a basic disagreement, and it doesn’t have anything to do with a Kum-by-ya crowd.

I’ve owned cats and dogs my whole life. If someone did that to my pet, I wouldn’t bat an eye if he was sent to jail for 15 years. Wouldn’t shed a tear at all.

That is assuming I didn’t kill them myself. I am older than you, and have seen enough of people to understand that just because someone walks upright and is human, that doesn’t make their life worth a plugged nickel in comparison to a valued pet.

I know lots of hunters who feel the same way about their pointer or retriever.

The typical “man bites dog” MSM headline is misleading - he got two years for threatening his girlfriend’s life. The felony animal cruelty charge wouldn’t have brought anything like that kind of sentence by itself.
