Ok, so that storm was just a storm....so to speak. Now you guys are waiting ‘the’ storm - this possible Hurricane. It surely did form quickly. Surely that will enable it to not be as powerful a punch? Hope so.

Stay safe all of you in the path...

(and thanks for adding me to the ping list, NN)

Yeah. Ours seem to not be concerned either.

I hope people keep their guard up. It wouldn't take much of a jog for it to knock at your door.

Any idea what conditions ahead of a hurricane do to fish?

Around this popular fishing area, all the avid fishermen take the the water in advance of tropical storms, while the women are left to prepare the home.

I don't know whether this phenomenon is due to good fishing, or just getting out of the way for storm prep.

That’s been my suspicion...even though the stories of awesome fishing are plenty. You know about fish tales...

"1983 Hurricane Alicia track "

Yup. It went straight up highway 36 from Galveston to Richmond where I was living at the time. This was the first storm to scare me.

That goofy woman on Fox keeps calling Galveston Gavelston! I’m surprised no one has called and told them how to pronounce it!
Sorry, had to vent.

For all Freepers in TX (and my family members as well) I hope tis is just a thunderstorm. We just drove thru the gulf coast, from Austin to S. FL and had quite a bit of rain. Sure glad we missed this!

All I can confirm is, like the ping says, the surf comes up.

And daughter has given me orders to NEVER take grandsons to the beach with a storm anywhere in the Gulf. Party-pooper.

It’s a take-off on Rush Limbaugh’s satire. Limbaugh frequently mocks liberals and their goofy proposals for the chirrun (children).
