I Asked God

I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.
I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve.
I asked for prosperity and God gave me brawn and brain to work.
I asked for courage and God gave me dangers to overcome.
I asked for patience and God placed me in situations where
I was forced to wait.
I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help.
I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities.
I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed.
My Prayer Has Been Answered.

In God’s House
My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the Lord. —Psalm 84:2

Tobias, who recently turned 3, loves to go to church. He cries when he isn’t able to attend. Each week when he arrives for the children’s program of Bible stories, games, singing, and dinner, he runs into the building and enthusiastically announces to the leaders and other children: “Let’s get this party started!” The Lord must smile at this child’s excitement about being in what he thinks is God’s house.

The author of Psalm 84, one of the sons of Korah, also had a love for God’s house. Some commentators have speculated that for a time he, a temple singer, was unable to go to the temple—either because of sickness or circumstances. So as he wrote this psalm, his soul was especially longing and crying out to be in “the courts of the Lord” (v.2). He believed that one day of worship in God’s house gave more satisfaction than a thousand days spent anywhere else (v.10).

There’s something special about praising God together with His people, and we should take every opportunity we can to do so. But if we can’t, like the psalmist, we can still express our love for the living God and our longing to know Him (v.2). The Lord is pleased and we’ll be blessed when our heart’s desire is to be with Him and His people.

One day that’s spent with You, O Lord,
In worship and in praise
Is better than a thousand spent
In less important ways. —Sper

A good indicator of our spiritual temperature is our eagerness to worship God.

That cat is like ours. We're about to send him to Aloof School; he won't leave us alone. But I do have to say that dog has a great voice.

Today's Holidays are.........

"#2 Pencil Day"

"Archeology Day"

"Davy Crockett's Birthday" (1786)

David "Davy" Crockett (1786-1836) was a frontiersman, orator and politician from Tennessee . After a youth spent developing his skills as a marksman, and working for farmers, cattle owners and a wagoner, he became leader of a battalion in the Creek Indian Wars (1813-14). In 1821, he was elected to the state legislature and from 1827 through 1833 he served in the U.S. House of Representatives. Defeated by a narrow margin while running for a fourth term in Congress, he left Tennessee for Texas in 1835 and immediately developed a strong attachment to his new home. In early 1836, he was among the 189 defenders who died at the Battle of the Alamo , fighting for Texas independence.

Though we tend to picture Davy Crockett the way Fess Parker portrayed him on the popular TV show - wearing buckskin clothing and a coonskin hat - in reality, Crockett was never portrayed in art wearing a coonskin hat before that time.
