So I go to give blood today, told the technician the “selected” vein ~rolled~, she said she’d be extra careful. Oops, the supervisor had to come and dig around to get the vein stuck and flowing. I did get my 5 gallon pin today; I know for my age (old) I’m behind a lot of people, but, to me, it was an accomplishment!

Ouch. I probably would’ve fainted from that.

You have a problem with veins that 'hide', too? Sometimes the tech will see what looks like a nice juicy one, then come up dry trying to get blood out of it, because it has moved. Tricksy, they are!

Kudos on the 5 Gal. pin. There was a man in my hometown who had given so much blood he was well over 15 gals. given, when I was in high school. I know he wasn't over 60 years old at that point, so he was a prolific giver!

There is a medical condition called hemo-chromatosis, for which the best treatment is frequent blood-letting, and the Red Cross accommodates folks with that condition.
