Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Heh... I've noticed that too in my rental. It's really nimble, and at speed it gets a little squirrelly. Mainly because I'm accustomed to the Jeep, I think, which is pretty soft in steering. The Corolla takes just the slightest touch to switch lanes. Usually... it's because I meant to. I think it might also change lanes if you just think about it real loud. :-)
Mmm... nice responsive steering.
Most certainly. It’s a neat car.
Our ‘Corin week’ continues... now Hair’s monitor just went tits-up all suddenly-like. No power light, no nothin’.
~sigh~
Rosie, you wouldn’t happen to have an extra monitor around, would you?
Oh, man...that’s not fair!
No spare here. :-\ Do you still have the fuzzy CRT, or is that long dumped?
No, we were up to *here* in old monitors, but then we cleaned up.
We’re heading over to West Olympia now. :~)
You caught them before someone else took it? Oh good...that should at least be a good hold-over!
Wassup wit dat? Flat panels don’t just up and quit...?
We’ve got a thousand of ‘em around the company, lots of different brands from super cheap to super ‘spensive and seriously... probably only a handfull that have ever had to be replaced because they just outright failed. The old CRT’s failed at a far higher rate.
That just bites.
Dunno, man. But mine, Hair’s and my boss’s monitors were all the same model 19” Viewsonic, and they all failed. Maybe they got a bad batch of something.
But we got a 19” CRT freebie from someone on Craigslist that will work fine for the interim.
I am uber-happy with my new Acer 22” widescreen, though.
This one is blurry like my old one. :~)
Full circle. ;-)
Oh well. I guess it’s better than nothing, huh?
It is better than nothing. :~)
Huh. Interesting data point. It’s not like Viewsonic is the cheapo-brand in the market, exactly. But yah, sounds like they had a quality-control-fart of some sort.
Most of ours are branded by Dell. I have no idea who really makes them. If I had to guess I would’ve guessed Viewsonic. Their form factors seem to be the same.
We also buy a bunch of Samsung units. I don’t know but I wouldn’t be suprised if they made many of the other co-branded displays on the market.
So at least it look familiar. :-)
Maybe your video card is a POS? :-)
I don’t think it’s the card, because the Viewsonic looked so good! I just think this monitor was free for a reason. :~)
Well, you do tend to get what you pay for. :-)
I do feel bad, since I think it was me that bought your display. Got it at Fry’s, as I recall. Too bad it turned out to be a lemon.
Down in these parts you get a big fine for using a handicapped id if you are not handicapped. Never heard of someone marking a parking space handicapped if it hasn't been authorized.
I think we still win the “Corin week”. Unless it is more Corin-like to have multiple small disasters rather than one ginormous one. Corin?
