Sad duty for all petowners Corin. Just one thing, I haven’t been able to tell for sure that you aren’t going to do this without your family knowing. That would be a bad idea, of course.
Hugh and thoughts and prayers for you today. We’ll be doing the same for Sadie before too much longer.
Hope the vet visit went... as well as could be expected.
Well, it certainly wasn’t easy, but it was the best thing for her. Everyone said their goodbyes this morning. Luke doesn’t know it was a permanent goodbye, but he’s gone for at least a week and it will be easier when he comes back and she’s just not here.
It wasn’t the vet I wanted. It was the one who hadn’t seen her before. But she looked at the charts and then examined her. She thought the hip wasn’t dislocated, but that it was a huge tumor. Abby had lost over 2 lbs. since the June visit. Thevet agreed that it was time. She said the other option would have been to remove the leg. But we agreed it wasn’t fair to put Abby through that stress.
It was the right thing to do. But it still sux.
Awww - was it Okay? As well as can be?
I’m sorry, Corin. It was time, but that doesn’t make it easy. :-\
Ah - now I see this. I agree it was time, but it’s a sad thing. But sadder still is just dwindling in pain she can’t describe for you and you can’t fix. Sometimes it’s just thing.
And sometimes I words out. Need more coffee.
Dang, sorry about that, Corin. It’s never easy to let them go.
Your old friend is now free of pain and at peace, which is for the best, considering the alternatives.
*Sniff*
Dear sweet Abby!
It’s never easy losing a pet. I worry about my 12-year old dog and 16(!)year old cat all the time.
Corin - Hugs across the miles, doing right is seldom easy. Though, remember, there is a field by the rainbow bridge. OB & LSA http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm
So how about if we have some coffee and then go do your mailbox in a bit? Wanna come over in a while when you’re ready?
Thanks all. I’ve been clearing out her spot where the crate was for the last two months. Sam knows something is wrong.
It was the right thing to do.
Sure! Be over in a few.
You need to get a nice print of that picture of Abby, and frame it. It would be a great remembrance.
I’m sorry to hear about your pet, my friend...I can’t imagine. I only had Benny hen for three years and really...I mean...she was just a chicken, you know...but I felt an emptiness after she was gone.
You did your best for that kitty...that’s a comfort.
Well, it’s just kinda sitting here all alone!
