Well, it certainly wasn’t easy, but it was the best thing for her. Everyone said their goodbyes this morning. Luke doesn’t know it was a permanent goodbye, but he’s gone for at least a week and it will be easier when he comes back and she’s just not here.
It wasn’t the vet I wanted. It was the one who hadn’t seen her before. But she looked at the charts and then examined her. She thought the hip wasn’t dislocated, but that it was a huge tumor. Abby had lost over 2 lbs. since the June visit. Thevet agreed that it was time. She said the other option would have been to remove the leg. But we agreed it wasn’t fair to put Abby through that stress.
It was the right thing to do. But it still sux.
Ah - now I see this. I agree it was time, but it’s a sad thing. But sadder still is just dwindling in pain she can’t describe for you and you can’t fix. Sometimes it’s just thing.
Your old friend is now free of pain and at peace, which is for the best, considering the alternatives.
