The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I already owe the stimulus check for music camp airfare. ;-)

But sometime soon. I want some sort of .357 revolver for starters, which narrows things down, at least.

Good call. There are plenty of decent ones that will not take even that whole check.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the camp. That will be fun.

Ah, right! You’ll have such a good time there, I’m really glad you signed up.

But save and get that revolver, you need it :)

It’s just suddenly hitting me that I have a month and a bit left. I haven’t practiced in over a week...

Ungh.

I’ll also be re-meeting folks I last saw in person way back in 2001, which will be fun and a little weird, too. It was like a moot! And a lot of us have kept in touch - the guitar list I like best is a bit like the Hobbit Hole in some ways. Enough so that every so often someone starts complaining that there isn’t enough guitar content anymore. ;-) It’ll be fun to catch up in real life.

But I’m sure we’ve all changed a bit in the intervening years. Some of the cute little kids are pretty much all growed up, for one...

Yeah, it just wouldn't have been the same if I'd made it and you didn't...

Talked to my cardiologist today. He's actually a specialist in Cardiac Electrophysiology. Since what I have in effect is a wiring problem, he's the guy to see. My guess is that he handles all kinds of arrhythmia problems.

He said what I did was fine, but that I don't need to stay on the Warfarin. I told him I only took the one, now I'm back to aspirin. He just said to keep track of the episodes, and if they become too frequent, we'll have to look at the possibility of Cardiac Ablation. That's a procedure like catheterization, except with ablation, they actually zap the area of the heart that's causing the arrhythmia and kill the tissue, so it won't keep happening.

Hope your Doc can give you some good info, or at least some good suggestions.

Yeah, I think it was better the way it happened.

Ok...here’s the low-down.

He said he thinks I have pheochromocytoma.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/pheochromocytoma/DS00569/DSECTION=1

They tested me for it when they did the 24 hour urine tests, but he said it’s rare to catch it that way. He wants to do a scan like a heart cath. They inject a dye and the pheochromocytoma glows.

He also wants to do an MRI of my brain to find out if I have a tumor or an aneurysm in there causing the vision loss.

I don’t know when this will take place. Will keep you posted.

Oh...and when they went to take my bp in the office, two nurses tried and couldn’t get it. The doctor tried and got 60/40! Way low!

So I get to stop another pill. They’re pretty sure it’s my double strength patch that’s doing the trick.

Yowsers! Did they have the jumper cables ready? The condition the Doc thinks you have sounds serious, but it also sounds like something that could be fairly easy to remedy!

Will they do a flouroscopy to look for it? I see they mention laparoscopic surgery; that's not too invasive, and I hear it's a much easier recovery.

I'll put you on our Parish Prayer List this week for an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment for the problem

Gee whiz, 2J! Be careful!

Pheochromocytoma sounds kind of scary...but on the other hand, it does sound like it fits even symptoms you've had outside of high blood pressure. And it says that most folks go completely back to normal once treated - not a bad deal!

Will be praying for you, for sure!
