The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

More prayers.

Some friends went through a similar difficult circumstance. Recommend getting some legal advice re the estate because the party(ies) that shows an interest and ability to pay some debts on behalf of the estate becomes liable for those debts. Just be careful. Probate and the like is tricksey.

Well. That was interesting.

*snork* I was just about to post those very words.

I'm not all that happy with the ending, but I guess we'll have to wait until next season to see how they get to that ending...

Dang! I didn’t realize he was 81! He and Tim Conway were two of the funniest men I’ve ever seen on TV, or anywhere else for that matter. Their work on the Carol Burnett show was always just brilliant!

Supposedly there are two other possible endings (that were filmed, but not used) on the website. I might watch those later because I think I might like them better.

Raymond Arroyo had that pair on his news show (EWTN) just recently - or maybe it was just Conway, regardless.... We recorded it because Big’ol is a fan. They were a brilliant pair - genuinely funny and always clean.

Thanks. Right now it’s just a matter of covering today’s costs which much be pre-paid. And beyond that she has about $1,000 in outstanding medical bills which the Mrs. and I will cover.

But we remember it well. It took over a year to sort out things when Papa died.

Thanks Corin. :~)

I sure hope the memorial services all go nicely without a hitch. I was thinking that the details and arrangements with the others might be a little difficult.

Is NotValerie doing OK? And the kids?

We’re functioning okay. And the arrangements are actually working out okay. Although we haven’t all been in the same room together yet. We got the final total, and it’s manageable...split 3 out of 5 ways. :-)

I’m getting ready to take Luke to the hotel pool for some distraction (and getting him out of the room while Mrs. is making phone calls.)

I’m pretty sure at least one of the b-i-ls and I will break Nana’s “no drinking at my funeral” request tonight. But we won’t do it at the chapel.

See y’all later.

They were a brilliant pair - genuinely funny and always clean.

That was one of the best things about them! Their humor was something you could watch with your kids, and not be worried that there would be an embarrassing moment, or you'd have to 'explain' something to the kids.

Someone posted a link to the You Tube video of the "Gone with the Wind" sketch, and Clare and I were laughing out loud at three this morning, cause we just couldn't stop watching!
