The Hobbit Hole XXXVI - O! Water cold we may pour at need...

Posted on 05/03/2008 8:48:06 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I haven’t even been to the beach at all in 7 years despite living 45 minutes from it.

That's just sinful. I'm only two hours from the beach, but that's still too far inland.

Wow! $80 bucks? I’m thinking if it were a big dump truck it was more like 8 CUBIC yards, so you got a great deal! We just went and bought a trailer-ful of sand for our concrete projects. Since we backed the thing up and shoveled it ourselves, we only had to pay $10.50, but that was for about 1 1/2 cu. yds. When I was waiting to pay for this load, I overheard the man on the phone talking to someone who was ordering a truck full of sand. He quoted $210 for 7 cu. yds, delivered!!

Well, I developed heart palpitations on Friday, dagnabit! I waited all day to see if they'd subside, but they didn't. The Doc had told me that if this happened, I should take some Warfarin after 24 hours. I didn't think I had any Warfarin left from before, so on Saturday, I took an Aspirin. I hadn't taken any Aspirin for the previous 7 days, because I was planning to have a colonoscopy done tomorrow. Anyway, I called to get the Warfarin refilled, and SirKit went to pick it up Sun. afternoon. I took one about 3, and before I went to bed last night, I was back into normal rhythm!

I'm fixing to call the Cardologist, but I'm waiting to hear back from the Doc about re-scheduling the colonoscopy. What's strange is that the Doc doing mine requires 10 days without aspirin before the procedure, but SirKit's Doc didn't have any such restriction! What's even more strange is that though they restrict aspirin for 10 days, they say to stop Coumadin only three days before the procedure. That doesn't make any sense to me, because I thought Coumadin was a much stronger blood thinner than regular aspirin. I don't know if not having the aspirin for that length of time had anything to do with the irregular heart rate, but I'm going to ask if I can do just 5 days without aspirin next time, just in case.

Yes, that’s right...eight cubic yards. It’s a huge sandpile (or was...prior to all the playing.) I kept telling the kids they were gonna love it but they had no idea.

Remember when we put the fence up by the shop? We made a ten-foot panel that just bolted on with wing nuts. It was my idea...I designed it and had Steve build it. We spaced our posts so there was a ten-foot gap between them.

He said he thought it was an odd thing till he stood in the yard watching that big dump truck backing into our yard through the space it made when he just unbolted it and took it down. He told me he just stood there thinking “Now that’s a beautiful thing.”

:-)

The only thing I can think of is that coumadin isn’t hard on the gastrointestinal system as aspirin is. Aspirin is an acid and causes irritation. They may be trying to avoid a false positive biopsy or something...maybe?

I don’t know for sure.

Shucks about the palpitations though!!

“By the time we get the pool up, we’ll really need to get that septic tank filled up!”

You could make it a kiddie pool.

sigh...Jr. has irritated my last nerve. He had major PMS this weekend.

Since Jr. is out of school and isn't working today, I emailed the Mrs. about reminding him to mow. She said "do you have a cattle prod?" I said no, but I could get my hands on a gun...

I’ve just about decided that if they don’t figure this out pretty soon...I’m headin’ to the Mayo Clinic. Or Baylor College of Medicine or something.

Heh, SirKit's been thinking the same thing about his diaphragm thang. In fact, his best friend, who is a radiologist, told him that if he wanted a referral, that he had some friends who worked there.

But truly, since we've been working more outside, and taking long walks every couple of days, his vital capacity has gotten a bit better. He still wants to figure out what's up, but at least he's not getting tired quite as quickly as he was before.

I will!

I’m also not even kiddin’.

I go see this new primary care doctor tomorrow. He’s an old friend of mine from when I used to work before I semi-retired. He’s Steve’s doctor and knows us pretty well. He always just loves to talk to Matthew, even when Matthew was a toddler. (He doesn’t know Joshua as well because when Joshua came along, I retired.)

When I go...I’m just going. I’m just gonna get in the car and head north. I’m gonna walk in there and say “I’m here with literally nothing but the clothes I’m wearing...fix me!” Heh heh!

We just need to get the two of you straightened out.

That's so you won't have to read the 'organ recital' so often. ;o)

Nah, the Cardio guy told me several years ago that I had a 'wiring problem', so it's something I have to deal with. I called the new Cardio guy to let him know what had happened over the weekend. I just told the nurse that if he needed to see me, or tell me to do anything differently, just to give me a call.

Unless I hear from the Doc, I'm letting it go, cause I've already confirmed, from all the testing done this year, that there's no heart disease. I'll have the warfarin for the next time it happens. The only thing that's a problem about the irregularity, is that if the blood doesn't dump properly, it could cause clots, which could cause a stroke. That's why having the warfarin around is a good thing; that will keep the blood thin enough where clots won't be an issue, while my heart is working itself back into normal rhythm.

Well, take two sets of clothes so you can wash one. And make sure you let Steve he’s got to take care of the boys ;)
