Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Heh heh...not only the reunion.com message, but a reply from a guy named Glen Scott who hit “Reply to All” apparently.
Good morning Corin! Good to see things are going as usual for you.
;-)
Cool, now that we have Corin’s whole contact list we can use it to steal his life.
Oh wait. I don’t think we want his life. Never mind.
Last night I went to my Mom’s Night Out with my BA CHEF friends. They asked about my pennywhistle and I told them “Oh, I still play, but this is my newest interest!” and I took out my pen you gave me. It was passed around and commented on...everyone was fascinated by it, wrote their names with it. One lady said she could vaguely remember her mother using one.
It was quite the conversation piece for a while...
I’m apparently not invited.
*snif*
Fun... ;-)
I’ve been playing music a lot - getting ready for that camp in a month. But I messed up and overdid it this weekend...actually have little blisters under what’s left of my old calluses. Ow.
I’d been thinking about attempting that Irish session one more time, but it’s not gonna be tonight, I don’t think. Ow.
Oh no!! Heh heh!
I should play more often...my friends love it and I never freeze up in front of them like I did at Shoot Moot. I still can’t figure how that happened.
Anyway...I have good news! A friend of mine got an incubator from the Extension Agency and is going to hatch Tyson meat chickens as a science project for her kids. The whole thing is free (paid for by Tyson) and I’ll probably try to participate in it next year...but the good news is, she doesn’t want ANY of the chicks once they hatch! She has 24 eggs!
She’s going to give all the chicks to me!
What do you think? You think I should finally invest in a deep freeze, what with the rabbits and now these chicks? Rudolph the Red-Doored Freezer was old and used more electricity than I could afford...we sold it in a garage sale.
I freeze up at the weirdest times. I mean...at the slow jam I’ve been going to, you’ve got about twenty people all in a big circle, all playing at once. People kind of take turns playing the lead, but the truth is, no one can really hear one lead out of the mix. Totally low pressure. And the rest of the folks there are musicians who totally understand. But even there, when my turn comes around, a lot of the time I start shaking uncontrollably and my hands spasm and physically can’t play the tune.
And yet, I didn’t have a problem playing with two or three others on stage when we were playing at that campground and such like, with me the only mando. Go figure.
That’s a lot of chickens...
We’re waiting... ;-)
Sorry.... I keep getting distracted... and my browser keeps locking up... and I have to feed horses... and... ACK! Too much pressure! :~)
Excuses, excuses! ;-)
Heh...I got out my own Core after talking to you about ‘em and have it loaded up with some nice brown ink. Other gal in the office just came in to get some info from me and went to grab a pen to write it down with. She spotted the Core and said, “What *is* that??” Kinda fascinated but repulsed at the same time. It seems to be the norm for that pen. ;-)
Joshua just caught a good-sized lizard! Green with black and yellow stripes down the back. I saw it in the turnips and flushed it out, he literally dove head-first onto the ground and caught it!
So far today he’s caught this lizard and four toads.
Did you get the converter? I got the converter but it’s got the blue cartridge in it right now.
Yeah - it’s using the converter right now.
One of these days I’ll probably order some Private Reserve ink cartridges, just ‘cause they’re handy.
How does the converter work? Does it just pop on like a cartridge, then you stick the nib in the ink and turn the knob at the top of the converter? That's kinda how I'm understanding it...
This is the one I got for the Preppy...they said it was on back order, but I got it with the rest of my order anyway.
He doesn't like the blue ink in it, so Steve is using it...but it did come with the converter so I'll put Heart of Darkness in it eventually.
I'm going to put the Legal Lapis you gave me in the Pink Preppy when the pink ink runs out.
Oh, and I’m looking for a vial or little bottle of some sort to send you some Heart of Darkness...can’t find one that I trust. They all have “stoppers” instead of lids.
Yeah, you put it in like a cartridge. And there are a couple of different types of converters, but for the twist type, yes, you’d lower the nib into the ink once the converter is in place, and then turn the knob to draw ink in. You may have to screw it out all the way first. There’s a sort of little plunger inside.
Oh...Ok!
I’m sure my hands will shake.
Well, I’m off. Matthew has to have a tetanus shot before he can go on his choir trip...so we’re off to take care of that.
The other thing I remember about the Core is that when it was new, it didn't feel all that smooth and sometimes skipped a bit. Like it had to break in slightly or something - I dunno!
I'd love to try the Heart of Darkness ink, but no rush, for sure! I want to find some bottles for ink, too, so I can play with mixing again. I'm thinking I may check the grocery where they have toiletry type bottles for travel. The catch is that many of those little bottles would have tops too narrow for a pen.
I've heard the mini Nalgene bottles are the ultimate (they come in a couple different sizes), but I don't know of anywhere locally that carries them. I wish we had an REI in town. What's up with a decent sized Northwest town not having an REI? It's not right.
