Oh no!! Heh heh!
I should play more often...my friends love it and I never freeze up in front of them like I did at Shoot Moot. I still can’t figure how that happened.
Anyway...I have good news! A friend of mine got an incubator from the Extension Agency and is going to hatch Tyson meat chickens as a science project for her kids. The whole thing is free (paid for by Tyson) and I’ll probably try to participate in it next year...but the good news is, she doesn’t want ANY of the chicks once they hatch! She has 24 eggs!
She’s going to give all the chicks to me!
What do you think? You think I should finally invest in a deep freeze, what with the rabbits and now these chicks? Rudolph the Red-Doored Freezer was old and used more electricity than I could afford...we sold it in a garage sale.
I freeze up at the weirdest times. I mean...at the slow jam I’ve been going to, you’ve got about twenty people all in a big circle, all playing at once. People kind of take turns playing the lead, but the truth is, no one can really hear one lead out of the mix. Totally low pressure. And the rest of the folks there are musicians who totally understand. But even there, when my turn comes around, a lot of the time I start shaking uncontrollably and my hands spasm and physically can’t play the tune.
And yet, I didn’t have a problem playing with two or three others on stage when we were playing at that campground and such like, with me the only mando. Go figure.
That’s a lot of chickens...
Heh...I got out my own Core after talking to you about ‘em and have it loaded up with some nice brown ink. Other gal in the office just came in to get some info from me and went to grab a pen to write it down with. She spotted the Core and said, “What *is* that??” Kinda fascinated but repulsed at the same time. It seems to be the norm for that pen. ;-)
We bought 35 and are now at 34. My friend ordered 100, so she has the other 65. When you order that many, you get them at about $1 each. It's funny because last year I got 25 for the same amount that I paid for these 35. They are noticeably bigger than they were a week ago. So, how do you get in on this Tyson thing? (and I'm wondering if our Extension Office has incubators...) Very cool.
If all the birds make it, you'll need a deep freeze (or a friend with one). We've got a small one, and will need to buy another small one... with the deer and chicken, we won't have room.
