“The definition of success—

To laugh much;

to win respect of intelligent persons and the affections of children;

to earn the approbation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

to appreciate beauty;

to find the best in others;

to give one's self;

to leave the world a little better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition.;

to have played and laughed with enthusiasm, and sung with exultation;

to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived—

this is to have succeeded.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Definition of Success is beautiful!

Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success. Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream. ~ Lao Tzu - Chinese taoist Philosopher, founder of Taoism - 600 BC-531 BC

Very sweet, yorkie! By the way, I read your Tribute to your husband you posted the other day. I caught it Saturday evening when I checked in just to read everyone’s posts, etc. Sometimes I like to check in and enjoy reading instead of posting myself. Your tribute was truly wonderful....these Memorial Day writings take us all back to our wonderful memories of loved ones gone on. And we let our thoughts and tears flow freely!

Yorkie, when I read you Emerson piece, I found it so coincidental that I was getting quotes the other day and this is one I copied from the net.

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is the meaning of success.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I think it was strange that we were on the same paths.
Twilight zone music....LOL~~~

To live content with small means;
To seek elegance rather than luxury,
To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich;
To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly;
To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with an open heart;
To bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious,
    grow up through the commonplace.
This to be my symphony.

        William Henry Channing (1810-1884)
