Are We Listening?
Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. —James 1:22

A fascinating film made in 1950, The Next Voice You Hear, tells a story of a family with a typical amount of trials and tensions. Then, one night, the voice of God speaks on the radio. But not just their radio—God’s voice is heard throughout the world on every radio, saying the same thing at the same time.

At first people react with disbelief, then fear. After several days of hearing “The Voice,” however, people’s attitudes, actions, and priorities begin to change. The impact of what God is saying directly affects how they live their lives.

I have heard people say, “If only God would talk to me! If He would just tell me what to do, I would do it.” The simple fact is that God has already spoken to us through His Word, the Bible. Do we listen to Him as He speaks?

The psalmist desired to obey God’s Word “continually, forever and ever” (119:44). And James warned about ignoring it when he said, “Be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22).

How would you respond if God began to speak to you on your radio? We can be thankful that God does speak to us—not on the radio but in the Scriptures. May we be wise enough to listen and obey.

Instill within my heart, dear Lord,
A deep desire to know Your Word;
I want to learn to hear Your voice
So that Your will becomes my choice. —D. De Haan

In God’s works we see His hand; in His Word we hear His heart.

We did get more rain but did not get but about 8/10 of an inch..The temps dropped so fast..It was lovely to go out to feed the birds with a slight chill in the air.
My son and his wife brought their dog with them Sunday..She enjoys bunny chasing at their house..so far no catches. I know Doggie enjoys King’s Ranch!

They are so beautiful in bloom.

Hi Kitty, its morning now and I was reviewing what I missed last night. That is a darling graphic with the 3 dogs last night! I was too tired to post a graphic yesterday so I just read and looked and answered some in words. Its cloudy here this morning but nice. The skies are getting brighter and I think we will see the sun today.

Wishing you a wonderful day. And Hi to Doggie!

I hope this doesn't catch on as a way to celebrate our combo-holidays:

Japan puts whale burger on menu

By Jonathan Head, BBC News, Tokyo

A small chain of restaurants in northern Japan has started serving whale burgers.

The chain said it hoped to increase whale meat's popularity among locals.

The new dish coincides with Japan's failure to overturn a ban on commercial whale hunting at a meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC).

Japan has said it will double the number of whales it kills for scientific research, a move that was opposed by an IWC vote on Wednesday.

The chain of restaurants, on the island of Hokkaido, said the burgers were selling well. A spokeswoman said the timing of the new dish, coinciding with the annual meeting of the IWC in South Korea, was accidental.

But she said she hoped it would give more young people a chance to try whale, which was once commonplace on the menu, but has declined in popularity over the years.

All of Japan's whale meat comes from the 700 or so it is allowed to kill every year for research purposes.

Conservationists condemn this cull as unnecessary and unscientific.

Meg, my computer may have something to do with certain things opening. One of yours popped right up and the other took forever.....go figure! Hope your day is starting out sunny! I, as usual, will be in and out! Few more plants to put in dirt....love to do that though! I would rather be outside than inside. Seems it just makes your head clear up when the sun shines and all the birds are making their pretty sounds!

I saw an old blackbird at the hole of my bluebird house yesterday. (pulling at the straw, etc.) Bet he is the one that ran my bluebirds off and I haven’t seen the wrens lately. I get so aggravated......but I have no control! I have never had that problem before!

The Whaling Wall, situated in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, is passed by some
local burgers. Created by the artist Wyland in 1994, it's a spectacular mural,
showing bowhead whales, belugas, seals - the marine life of the state.
