I post it where I am invited. There are many threads there isn’t there? I post here, the Canteen, daily pray for the President and the Finest.

Point me in the direction with a ping and I’ll be there.

A U.S. Navy Corpsman serving with Marines, wrote a
wonderful poem and it is posted here for you.

"Bury Me Next to a Marine"

Bury me next to a Marine, When my time has come to an end,
So I can spend eternity beside my brother and friend.

I've served beside them for years And they've inspired me every day.
They've never asked for anything, So a debt I can never repay.

None of them served for glory, None for money or fame. But they've
served in every clime and place. Heroes with but one name.

No one will ever outdo them, Their honor is never outdone.
They will all go down in history, As America's favorite sons.

Marines will never fail you, And their guard will never cease.

Please bury me next to a Marine, So I may rest in peace.

Spelling Bee
Your Word I have hidden in my heart. —Psalm 119:11

My wife and I stayed up late to watch a TV program we found exciting—the Scripps National Spelling Bee. It was fascinating to watch middle-school children as they recited the correct spelling for some of the most difficult words imaginable.

Anticipation grew as one contestant after another was disqualified. Finally, only 13-year-old Katharine Close remained. One word stood between her and the world championship. With little hesitation, Katharine correctly spelled the word ursprache.

Obviously, Katharine can spell! But it’s possible to know how to spell a word, yet not understand its meaning.

As believers in Jesus Christ, it’s vital for us to know God’s Word, the Bible. Our goal is not to accumulate knowledge but to internalize His Word so that we can be equipped in our walk of faith.

When we know God’s Word, it keeps our spiritual walk from slipping (Ps. 37:31). It satisfies the hunger of our souls (Jer. 15:16). And it is a key weapon in facing temptations and trials (Matt. 4:1-11; Eph. 6:10-18).

Let’s make it our aim to know the Word. Then, when facing life’s challenges, we can be ready for any situation (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

My hunger for the truth He satisfies;
Upon the Word, the Living Bread, I feed:
No parching thirst I know, because His grace,
A pool of endless depth, supplies my need. —Sanders

To the wise, God’s Word is sufficient.

Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes you sent. I wanted to express my gratitude personally to each of you, but yesterday turned out to be a very frustrating day.

Although I could read your postings and mail messages, I could not respond, nor could I extend my best wishes to Meg with whom I shared a birthday. Worse, my lack of response could easily be misinterpreted as ingratitude. Yesterday was pure torture.

My posting privileges had been suspended for a week and I was on probation for a total ban from FreeRepublic for a beach picture I posted the day before. I was wrong. I apologize. Amy was instrumental in getting my privileges restored.

So, belatedly, let me wish Meg a Happy Birthday. But I also know I have missed the birthdays of many of you in the past and feel terrible about that too.

Meanwhile, I'll try to participate on this popular resurrected thread when I can—though I must be more careful that I have been. Have fun. You are the people that make this thread and FreeRepublic worthwhile.
