Linux visionary convicted of murder

Excerpt -

Linux visionary Hans Reiser has been convicted of first-degree murder for killing his estranged wife in 2006 and faces life imprisonment.

Reiser, founder of Namesys which develops the Linux-based Reiser file systems, was charged with the deliberate and premeditated murder of Nina Reiser by an Oakland, California courthouse after an almost six-month trial.

The fate of the troubled ReiserFS and Reiser4 file systems may be sealed, following media reports that Namesys has ceased commercial activity and the rapid loss of support for the latter system in the open source community.

ReiserFS was the first journaling file system included in the Linux kernel and is the default system for a number of distributions including Elive, Linspire, and Xandros.

Good point ... life is going pretty well, actually.

What's this thing with you and Java? Did you mother force you to code Java when you were little?

...one piece of evidence in his favor that was barred from being presented during the case. Sean Sturgeon, a former friend of Hans Reiser and one of Nina's lovers during her separation from Hans, confessed to eight unrelated murders. Nina ended her relationship with Sturgeon in 2006, partly because she was disturbed by his fetish for sadomasochism.

Whoa...freaky geeks.

He must have done his development work in an Agile environment.

Sean Sturgeon is no geek, at least no computer geek.

He is, or was, a recycling truck driver, who confessed to eight other murders. He was never able to convince police he had actually committed any murders, and was not arrested.

He was certainly freaky though. For example, he was Maid of Honor for Nina at her wedding with Hans. Sean was in full drag for the occassion.

Not exactly, but it was sort of shoved down everyone's throat in the financial industry and in a business where interface is critical it's like one of those dreams where you have to run really fast and your feet are stuck in molasses.

They say it's great for security so...ergo, everyone must adapt.

The old Windows apps would respond when you hit a key or clicked a mouse, not 25 milliseconds later; not leaving you wondering where the cursor is; not forcing you to re-enter ALL the fields because you made an error in one of them.

SF COMICAL: "Reiser, who faces 25 years to life in prison"

The poor baby will be out in 7 1/2 years, which is, as I recall, the average in this Paradise for murder one, while the media continues to feed us horse manure about "25 years to life".

I told my husband that maybe if he was lucky, Reiser might be out by the time Zesty Zebra debuts.

I don't understand. Not being a Linux weenie somebody help me out here.

Why does his conviction "seal the fate" of ReiserFS and Reiser4? Is there another popular journaling FS out there?

It’s a good thing for him he’s in CA. Being a liberal state, the jury isn’t likely to sentence him to a kill 9.

Thank you for the explanation! Pretty funny.
