In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
semelparous \seh-MEL-puh-rus\ adjective
reproducing or breeding only once in a lifetime
Example sentence:
Each year the semelparous salmon return to the stream where they hatched to spawn, and they die soon thereafter.
Did you know?
The combining form "-parous" was first used in English by the 17th-century physician and writer Sir Thomas Browne, who wrote about organisms that were "multiparous" ("producing more than one at a birth"), "oviparous" ("producing eggs that develop outside the maternal body"), and "viviparous" ("producing living young instead of eggs from within the body"). The suffix is based on the Latin verb "parere," meaning "to give birth to," which is also a relative of the word that gave us "parent." "Semelparous," the youngest offspring of "-parous," was born in 1954. Its other parent is "semel," the Latin word for "once."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

and the guy QUIT doing the prayer to acquiesce to their ridic establishment clause objections and now just bows his head and takes a knee. heck they do THAT when they are diagramming plays for heaven’s sake, how is that promoting religion?? i think we looked and the superintendent sounds to be a dago woman, probably catholic herself!
not to mention his stubborn intransigence with respect to the long overdue dirt nap.
I thought it was pretty well established that a moment of silence was “neutral” in regards to “establishing religion.”
So by virtue of being on a knee in a locker room (which is a standard way to huddle even for secular purposes) it becomes an establishment?
But only if the person calling the huddle has a history of leading prayers?
Isn’t the law supposed to be not about particular people?
Jennie Finch, all 6'1" of her. A fireballing RHP.
Team USA ended up winning about a gazillion to 0. Looks like a sure Gold Medal in Beijing.
according to xshub, Ted McKee is a raging leftist, and he of the three on the panel took the most extreme view. xshub used lots of words beginning with the letter F to describe him...

At 6’1” she would be patting the top of your head! lol And yes, I played softball for many years and can attest to the overwhelming number of libbians in that sport.
All the pitchers around here (high school softball) are wearing these mouth protecting contraptions. Make them look like Darth Vader a bit.
Now that one. She’s got a purty mouth.
