Hi GeeBee! Yes, I am so excited that I will get to see their little family come into the world. I will try to get some more photos and will share them if I get anything worth sharing.
I can't see inside my jays nest, it's just a bit too high and I don't want to get too close to it either. They aren't afraid of me, but I still think they would be a bit nervous if I came right up to the nest. I am a bit concerned about the gardener coming on Thursday. I am hoping to catch him and let him know that we have a nest and to be careful around it.
Yum! I love coffee cake.......I love any kind of cake!
Evenin’ jaycee!
The males are the prettiest for a couple of reasons—to better attract a mate, and because the females usually sit on the nest, they need to be better camoflauged.
**Eastern bluebirds will not build in anything but a bluebird house**
Bluebirds will nest in a lot of places. They have taken over my martin condo, not that I care! I had at least 3 and maybe 4 families of bluebirds in the same condo last year. I always thought they were too territorial to live that close. Obviously not. Shrug
Thank you, Kitty Mittens! I am wishing a wonderful evening for you, too, and for all my FRiends here at Amy's Place!
So sorry! Hope you feel better! That’s one of the worst things about living here on the coast—the barometric pressue is up, down, and all around. Drives me batty. I can feel the pressure changing—who needs the weatherman? LOL
Flickering lights and those blue white headlights—shudder. I’ve been known to drive with my sunglasses on at night.
Good evening Yorkie
This picture is so cute! :)
Thanks, oesy! That one made me laugh out loud! It’s esp appropriate today—we got @ 500 chicks in today. They’re cute for about 3 seconds. After that—every time we walk past the brooders, it’s—shut up! We start muttering— chicken nuggets, chicken shish ke bab, chicken pot pie.....
You can’t believe how noisy those little critters can be!
What a very precious picture....I have missed a lot today!
I tried to photograph the bird on the nest just now, but the foliage is dense and I couldn't get a good shot of her.
What a pretty graphic! Hi yorkie!
There are lots of ‘kinds’ of bluebirds. They have a beautiful Western bluebird that lives in other houses. Those Western bluebirds are almost prettier than the Eastern ones. There is a beautiful bluebird that is almost solid blue and they are about the size of the Eastern bluebird and are really beautiful. I don’t know the different habitats, houses, etc. for all bluebirds.
All I know is that I never saw one in this neighborhood until my son built me a bluebird house~~~~
I just saw this on the FR comments page and had to pop in. What a shot!! Too cute.
Hola, Scrubita!!
That is just gorgeous.....king of the world! That may be the male..the one on the fence you posted looked a bit different. You said one of them was more aggressive....do you think the female would be more aggressive than the male? There’s so many things I wish I knew.....
That sounds reasonable to me, gardengirl!
LOL! One of my birds has been named "Precocious" since he as a precocious baby and would pester me all day for peanuts. His mate, who he brought to meet me several months ago, shall be named "Scrubita". That is a perfect name for her!
I think the female may be the plumper, more agressive one, but I can’t be sure. It’s just a guess. Their coloring is equally intense. I sure wish I knew.
You guys are great, hahaha...
