Good morning, Amy, MEG, and friends. It's windy here today. I was relieved to find my baby jay still clinging to his perch in the Oleander. I was concerned that he would blow away during the night.

Good news..The winds here Sunday were awful..We had a cool morning that is now warming up fast to reach 80.

I worried about my raccoons in the ravine last year during the deluge...We worry about our creatures in a storm.

Good news here..I thought I had no hummingbirds after at least a week of no sightings but I have a female red throat back at the feeder.

Did you know there was a Sense of Smell Institute?

Me either! Well today the Institute plays host to activities in museums and science centers across the country educating us about our 5th sense, smell.

Did you know:

Everyone has his or her own unique odor-identity or “smell fingerprint.

No two people smell the same odor the same way. In other words, a rose may smell sweeter to some people than to others.

The average human being is able to recognize approximately 10,000 different odors.

Our sense of taste is greatly influenced by our sense of smell.

A woman’s sense of smell is keener than a man’s.
