They look so pretty when they are not in a lawn!

Thanks for sharing that picture, Jaycee. It is lovely.

I enjoy this poem very much, Thanks! :) I have certain areas in my yard where the most lovely flowers grow and they are considered weeds. I can’t cut those lovely weeds down either ;)

Hi PAL
I wish I could help too. This is such a sad and difficult situation you have to deal with. As Amy, I will also pray for you. Pray that you get a solution and control over this situation.

This sounds delicious but fattening. By that usually goes hand in hand ;).

I love swiss fondue with crisp italian bread.

Fantastic Mama Bear! :)
I hope you have a great weekend.

We'll have rain but this is good. I just planted 14 bare root roses ;) How's your Jay's nest? I see the Chickadees looking at houses. I hope they take one.

Yeah, I thought that today...I now have a few that needs killing now!

When I was doing a search, I was absolutely amazed how much dandelion material is out there!

Do you buy that in your grocery store....I’ve never seen it..of course I don’t fondue anymore but we went through all that at one time and now its popular again!

That Swiss Knight could be a brand in your area and not mine! You know how that is!

Good Evening Jaycee :)

Isn't it delicious. I find it by the gourmet cheese section in one store. I use to think they didn't carry it till I realized it's in a spot that is not easy to see. High up on top of the case. Sometimes they have it and other times I can't find it.

My Mom always had fondue as one dish on Christmas Eve. I still do this tradition.

Thanks, all, for your kind words, though the credit really belongs to the poets and photographers who created the works.

Yes, Amy, I recall but can't seem to find the poem about a wolf that you posted a few years back. In my usual rush, I found the same poem and proudly posted it--when what to my surprise there it was--at Amy's Place--twice. What do they say about great minds ... (and great scavengers such as myself) thinking alike?

"Yes, even Grandma, drawn to the cellar of winter for a June adventure, might stand alone and quietly, in secret conclave with her own soul and spirit, as did Grandfather and Father and Uncle Bert, or some or the boarders, communing with a last touch of a calendar long departed, with the picnics and the warm rains and the smell of fields of wheat and new popcorn and bending hay. Even Grandma, repeating and repeating the fine and golden words, even as they were said now in this moment when the flowers were dropped into the press, as they would be repeated every winter for all the white winters in time. Saying them over and over on the lips, like a smile, like a sudden path of sunlight in the dark. Dandelion wine. Dandelion wine. Dandelion wine.

"What you have here ... then is a gathering of dandelions from all those years. The wine metaphor which appears again and again ... is wonderfully apt. I was gathering images all of my life, storing them away, and forgetting them. Somehow I had to send myself back, with words as catalysts, to open the memories out and see what they had to offer."

-- from Ray Bradbury's novel Dandelion Wine

I have never seen Swiss Knight Fondue.

Is it a mix? Years ago when we did fondue, we used a very simple recipe. I can’t even remember it.

Thank you, GeeBee.

Thanks, Yorkie. I’ve noticed a lot of recipes being posted on that thread.

Say, it’s been a long time since anyone sent me Friendship Bread, I mean a loooooong time. Does that still circulate?

Friendship bread?

Want me to fax you a healthy portion of the starter?

(I only send it to my friends, you know!) Hugs!

Thank you, LJ, Kitty and Just Amy for the dandelion pic and poem pings. It takes awhile to create the post, finding the poem and the pic that go together, and I appreciate it!

I am minded of when I was a child and blew on the dandelion, as in the photo LJ posted, making a wish and watching the fluffy wisps float away. And when the yellow flower appeared, my mother would hold it under my chin to see reflected yellow.... something about butter?

Great scrub jay poem, NNB, and photo of MB’s winged grand-baby:).
