IS anyone in here VOTING FOR DAVID ARCH...?

Heck yeah. I am a Cookie fan. Cook is far, far more my style. But Archie WON hands down tonight and deserves the title. G-d gave this young, sweet kid an immense talent.

A lot of my friends on this thread are too cool for school and put Archuleta down because he is so naive and childlike. But he is NOT a phony perv like Michael Jackson. He's a genuine decent young lad and he has the vocal talents that could only be on loan from G-d.

I'd purchase David Cook's CD, and probably not Archuleta's. But I'd be dishonest if I said Cook were the better singer.

Tonight was truly great entertainment for free on TV. Those two guys sang their hearts out and I enjoyed every minute.

I could tell tonight: David Cook knows Archuleta will win, and he doesn’t really mind. He has been told, and it surely is true, that he will still receive a recording contract, and he will do just fine. I do not believe that someone as brilliant and mature as David Cook “needs” to be crowned “American Idol.” He doesn’t. He entered the contest as a whim. He’s rocked our worlds. He has millions of fans. I believe he will truly be thrilled for David Archuleta to win.

Yours is the best, most honest encapsulation of tonight’s show.

Well, I want to do some voting now so this will be kind of a hit and run comment (type and run?) but I am SO annoyed at Cook. I swear I just want to give him a dope slap. Listen, buddy, ya need the big barnburner song to finish with! Don’t give me that thoughtful dweebie crap! You started with your best song! Aargh! (And he did so very well with that first song! I was actually dancing in our living room, and my 14-month-old twins were dancing with me! We were rockin’ the house! :)

And Simon and Randy. Wow, maybe Mr. Cellophane could have been more transparent than them about who they want to win, but no one else. I actually gave Simon the finger (yes, me, mild-mannered Hetty!) when he said Archuletta won round one. Aaargh again.

A pox on Simon. I wish him nothing but “joy” with Daddy Archuletta for the next year. Have fun.

Per DialIdol, David Cook is beating the pants off Archuleta.

I’m laughing right now - watching the West Coast feed of DWTS. I’m going to have to watch the whole season now on ABC.com.

Jason Taylor did a great job with his quickstep - height difference notwithstanding. (I thought for a moment that he was going to spike Edyta after the dance!)

Yes, he is, and I am thinking it has to do with whom the voters like best. David Cook is strong, sexy, versatile, and certainly the performer who’d give you your money’s worth in a CD or a concert.

He did not appear to “win” tonight, though. But I guess he still could pull it off!

The DC fans are calling like crazy for Operation Chaos! :) I hope he wins. He's the person that should be representing this show for the next two or three years. Not monchichi.

Same here. AI needs a front-man that has the it factor and DC can do it. For the life of me I can't figure out what category of musical fan David A would appeal too. He has a good voice but where is it going?

I preferred David C's version of the U2 song. His voice brought some much needed soul and character to that song. I would buy that version of the song. For me sometimes Bono sounds lonely and scared when he sings.

If it makes you feel any better all the Dial Idol predictions have it a David Cook blowout.

Every little bit helps! :)

There have been nights when I couldn’t get through much either. I don’t know why that happens. I have found though that the first hours is the hardest to get votes in, and the third hours is the easiest.

I hope David Cook wins so it will open more doors for the rockers to try out for Idol and get in the mix. I would love to see a good bluesman get in there also.

Yes on both counts.

Looks like the numbers held overnight. There is a sizeable gap between the two. It wasn't even close. If Cook doesn't win, I'm going to think something underhanded went on.

The voters may have felt that over the weeks, Cook gave them what they wanted and Archuleta didn't. For a lot of voters it isn't about one sole week, its about the whole package and the whole season.

Singers like Rod Stewart and Mick Jagger (just to name two) go to show, that you don't need a pure voice to be a great entertainer/singer.

I can. Remember the movie Beavis and Butthead do America and the bus full of pill-popping senior citizens on a tour culminating at Las Vegas? (ya know - the ones who, IRL, shuffle around the casinos with fannypacks and a plate full of buffet food...)

Those folks.

‘American Idol’ producer promises “so many surprises” for finale

http://www.realitytvworld.com/news/american-idol-producer-promises-so-many-surprises-for-finale-7129.php

“We have got probably the biggest star in the world right now coming on,” teased Lythgoe. “That’s all I’m saying — the biggest star in the world right now.”

In addition, Lythgoe said producers also put together another performance via the wonder of technology.

“I’ve done another one of those videos, if you remember we did Celine Dion and Elvis Presley [during Idol Gives Back last spring],” said Lythgoe. “I’ve done another one of those, which is absolutely fantastic... More than two [people] this time.”

I hope the biggest star isn’t Miley Cyrus.

Do you think they will try to have Archuleta sing with John Lennon?

But in this year where a vapid, communist, racist is going to win the presidency by saying nothing but "hope" and "change" then why wouldn't the same people love that evil song?

I will be SHOCKED if Monchichi isn't named the winner. I am a firm believer that the voting matters a bit but is not the sole determinant of the winner. I'm so sure that I doubt I will watch much of the finale tonight.

That being said, it will be the "right" outcome. Monchichi needs the title of American Idol more than Cook. Cook is set and it might even be a stigma for him to have that albatross around his neck in the alternative rock genre. Cook will sell tons of records regardless (Exhibit A: Daughtry) and will easily be the biggest selling artist out of this years bunch. Monchichi needs it more.
