Jeff Archuleta's intense backstage involvement had become a source of concern for the series, the person connected with "American Idol" said but it was a lyric change on Tuesday's show that pushed producers to act.Despite a warning, Jeff Archuleta insisted on altering "Stand by Me," one of two songs his son sang on the show Tuesday. By adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," the father incurred additional costs for "American Idol," the person said.
If this is true, this guy is exactly who we think is, an over medling stage-parent.
I have a sneaky suspision David does nothing without his father's interference!

I think Carly tried to really push her voice on the song and she went from controlled to out of control screaming in parts. I agree completely.

AI probably got fined, heavily for Archuleta’s father’s interference. They should make him pay the fine.

Perhaps the main problem with Andrew Lloyd Weber night was that his songs are meant for actors.
Even the best performances that night seemed to be imitations of actors, IMO.
ALW hired Gerard Butler to play the Phantom in the movie because of his acting ability, not his singing. Thought that was interesting.

Syesha did well that night also. It wasn’t a flop for everyone. All in all it was a successful night for ALW. Most of them did well.

LOL ~ if you say so.
The comments on this thread don’t exactly reflect “a successful night for ALW.”
He wasn’t particularly appreciated, IIRC.

The comments on this thread dont exactly reflect a successful night for ALW. It would be too hard to go back through the thread but by and large it was a good night and most people were surprised by that. There were only a few stinkers in the bunch.

Makes you wonder if the Idol folks really want to deal with Monchichi’s Dad should he “win” this thing...

Good point ~ it’s all over Fox News this afternoon.
Do you think it’ll get David sympathy votes?

I don’t even know why they let Paula pick any of the songs. She makes really strange choices.

If Paula is picking songs I wonder if she is using the spin the bottle method but with so many empty liquor bottles lying around it must be hard for her to choose after they all get through spinning. Plus she has to let the room stop spinning.
