The song David Monchichi sang....
We have, the chance to turn the pages over
We can write what we want to write
We gotta make ends meet, before we get much older
We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?
You’re the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
We’re not gonna sit in silence
We’re not gonna live with fear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
This time, we know we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing, we can make it better
ooooh, We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?...
You’re the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
We’re not gonna sit in silence
We’re not gonna live with fear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
[Instrumental(Bag Pipes)]
ooooh, We’re all someone’s daughter
We’re all someone’s son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?...
You’re the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
We’re not gonna sit in silence
We’re not gonna live with fear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o (x3)
You’re the voice, try and understand it
Make a noise and make it clear
Oh-o-o-o, whoa-o-o-o
Thank goodness I’m not alone in thinking David Cooks sucks and being totally bothered by his hair. :)
Again...song choice song choice song choice...it'll make you or break you on this show....
AMERICAN IDOL TOP 10 THOUGHTS:
I think unfortunately for her she'll be standing alone at the end of the results show tonight. I'm afraid the song was too big for her. Way too pitchy. In my bottom 2.
Jason Castro - born in 1987 - he sings "Fragile"
Reminiscent of....
He sang it as though it was fragile. I actually really like the song and I thought he did a basic copy of it, nothing unique or different. Those dreads really have to go. And I agree with Simons remarks...he did seem like an artist outside a subway station.
Syesha Mercado - 1987 baby - she sings "If I Were Your Woman"
Well, if she were my woman, I'd tell her there are enough black divas out there to last us until 2050. But since I'm female and not into that type of thing....I'll let the guys tell her what for.... And did anyone even recognize this song? I didn't....I think if she had picked a more recognizable, non-diva type song...she would be safer. In my Bottom 2.
Chikezie Eze - born in 1985 - he sings "If Only for One Night"
If only one night the judges would give him his props.......I'm really liking Chikezie, he's my favorite now. He's consistent in his performances and when he sings, he has a great strong voice and doesn't try to do the "black thing" and roll his notes. And he's entertaining. Again, screw the judges....I liked it. In my Top 3
Brooke White - born in 1983 - she sings "Every Breath You Take"
She took a couple breaths when she first started this song...and a couple tries...but after she got going, it was pretty good. I agree with the judges, she should have just had the piano and no band the entire time...but it was better than I expected. And I really love the way her hair was styled last night, it was a good look for her.
Michael Johns - born in 1978 - "We Will Rock You" mixed with "We Are the Champions"
He did rock us and finally, came out a champion. I'm SO glad he picked another Queen song and he did as I'd hoped and really showed us his talent. He does have star quality. In my Top 3.
Carly Smithson - born in 1983 - she sings "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
Total eclipse of a bad song choice. The song, as I predicted, didn't fit her voice, imo. She sang it well, but it just didn't feel right.
David Archuleta - born in 1990 - he sings "You're the Voice"
And apparently, he's trying to be "the voice". We get that you're a liberal, anti-war advocate...but enough with the songs with messages dude...it's getting REALLY old and REALLY tiresome and I don't think I'm alone when I say, it's a total turn off. You can sing...but your song choices are making people want to puke and thereby not want to hear you.
Kristy Lee Cook - born in 1984 - she sings "God Bless the U.S.A."
God Bless this song. I love it!!! And I LOVE more than anything, that she went AFTER David and his stupid anti-war song. She sang better than I thought she would and I think she did rather well tonight. In my Top 3.
David Cook - born in 1982 - he sings "Billie Jean"
Billie Jean, if she had any taste, would be going off on this dude. A Michael Jackson version he did not....and in my opinion, he ruined a very good 80's tune. He sang it well, but I really detest it when people have to take good songs and style them in today's type sound/style, thereby ruining how great it was. And he couldn't even be original, he had to take from someone else's "creativity". Ugh. I just hate today's music...there's no uniqueness, no originality...all the songs and bands sound the same. I kept wanting Paula to tell him he looked great. ;)
And if I had to pick from the year I was born (1971):
1. Joy To The World, Three Dog Night 2. Maggie May/(Find A) Reason To Believe, Rod Stewart 3. It's Too Late/I Feel The Earth Move, Carole King 4. One Bad Apple, Osmonds 5. How Can You Mend A Broken Heart, Bee Gees 6. Indian Reservation, Raiders 7. Go Away Little Girl, Donny Osmond 8. Take Me Home, Country Roads, John Denver 9. Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me), Temptations 10. Knock Three Times, Pawn |
this is also the unofficial DWTS thread.
In that case, could DWTS be any longer? Talk about filler show. Come on did they have to show every dance again and then they came back from commerical and talked about the rankings again. They easily could have made this a meaningful 30 minute show. That was entirely ridiculous tonight!!!!
Just my opinion, but choosing this song is shameless pandering to Idol’s red state viewers.
Isn’t she from a red state? I did feel like it was a brilliant move for her and could save her another week. I think she was one of the best tonight to be honest with you.
Jacuzzi in your top 3?
Dang...
With Kristi stepping up, I don’t know. I thought the guy with the dreads was the weakest, but he seems to have a solid teen queen vote.
IMO - all results shows are 50 minutes too long....
Well I just finished watching and at first I thought oh crap another bad week, but towards the end it was pretty good. My Ranking:
1. David Cook and I can’t stand him. lol.
2. Kristy! Can’t believe it! Loved the song and she sang well.
3. David Archeleta! Great song, but did not realize I was supposed to hate it until I got on FR. lol.
4. Brooke! Love the girl but was just alright tonight.
5. Mike Johns. Good job, best in awile for him.
6. Jason Castro. Typically enjoy his songs, but tonight was at best ok.
7. Syesha - Good job but pretty boring
8. Carly - Not horrible, but not great.
9. Ramiele - Yieks!
10. Chikezie - Absolutely horrible and BORING of the night.
Going home - probably Ramiele. Who should - Chikezie
Top Songs of 1955
"Let Me Go, Lover ... Joan Weber
"Hearts of Stone" ... Fontane Sisters
"Sincerely" ... McGuire Sisters
"The Ballad Of Davy Crockett" ... Bill Hayes
"Unchained Melody" ... Les Baxter
"Rock Around The Clock" ... Bill Haley & his Comets
"Yellow Rose Of Texas" ... Mitch Miller
"Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" ... The Four Aces
"Autumn Leaves" ... Roger Williams
"Sixteen Tons" ... Tennessee Ernie Ford
Thankfully we won't have to suffer through any of these songs with the AI crew.
Ok. I have been hearing about these Jonas kids for weeks now, but never heard them until DWTS. I am not impressed! In fact, I think they stink. What is up with these turds being popular?
2. Anchor baby.
lol.
I want Michael Johns to be my favorite this year, but his vocal range appears to be limited, and his performances still aren't really there. Even so, last night was his best performance in weeks, if not ever in this competition so far. He seems to lack a sense of fun. At least he's very easy on the eyes.
I give huge props to Kristy Lee for tackling 'Proud To Be An American.' She did a decent job with the song.
David Cook is OK, and is probably the most marketable in the current pop music world. My attitude toward him is just meh, though.
I'm glad the stylists arranged Carly's hair so it hung over one eye. That helped cover the unattractive facial expressions she makes while singing, and helped me focus more on her vocals. My reaction is that she's nothing special.
I like Chikeze's personality, but don't like his singing voice. It has a sharp quality that I find unpleasant.
Brooke White was disappointing last night.
David Archuleta is just tiresome at this point. The odd thing is that, as young as he is, the material he favors is not youthful. It's pagent/cruise ship stuff.
I like Syesha's personality, but her performances are very hit or miss. I feel like there's some talent in her, but think she needs a lot of work with a good vocal coach.
Bugs has a cute face, but like you said, he approaches songs like they're fragile. His style is more folk minstrel than pop singer.
Ramiele is another one who, early in this season, seemed to be better than she actually is. I think she could have a career in East Asia: the Phillippines, Taiwan, Japan, etc.
You better hope her dad doesn’t lurk FR. LOL!!!
Hanson audience. Early teen girls buy a large portion of the music in this country. If I was 13, I’d give em a second look.
