Archie never met a note he couldnt multiply by seven. He knows next to nothing about music history, or different genres, or anything other than singing that same old syrupy ballad in the same old way he always sings it.Exactly. He even lost his cuteness for me a long time ago because his facial expressions are the same whenever he sings.

Syesha - Song #1 sounded "theme-park performance" to me. Second song did little to make me pay attention. Did I actually hear her compare her journey on AI to the civil rights movement???
Yes, she did. I've been reading on another Idol forum and not one poster thought her civil rights/journey/tears scene was real. One pointed out the two long sit-downs they had with her, plus letting her go on again about the civil rights meaning and then keeping her on stage during the waterworks. Was it manipulated to ensure she got the needed votes to eliminate Dreads?
Speaking of, I watched his performances again today and thought that Tambourine Man was very good. The forgetting the words part (hello, David A.) didn't bother me at all...Bob D. mumbles sometimes, too.

Hi Jonny and Netizen. I haven't posted a review in a long time, but thought I'd share my thinking about the remaining contestants with you.
Syesha. No question she's the most improved across the entire season. She seemed to have found herself during Broadway/Andrew Lloyd Weber week, at which time she said she enjoys acting. So maybe she sees herself as going in that direction after AI. At least her recent performances suggest that. Last night she was theatrical and almost, but not quite exceptional. I liked her second song better than her first, but kept thinking throughout that, in singing about change, she was doing her bit to support Barack Obama.
David C. If one keeps the original point of this show in mind, then he is by far the best contestant left standing. He's a talented -- and, I believe, commercial -- pop/rock singer and performer.
David A. Please see my post #7,311 for my opinion of him. No point in repeating it here. I know it's only my opinion, which people can accept or reject as they wish, but I honestly believe his talent is very, very limited and non-commercial. But who knows. I've been wrong before and will be again.
Dreads. How he even made it to the top 4 is a mystery. I'm hard on David A. for showing absolutely zero performance range, but the same applies to this guy. As everyone else on the thread has observed, his performances last night were beyond horrible. Even beyond bad karaoke, for that matter. He should go home tonight, but I wouldn't be surprised if Syesha goes since she's been in the bottom 2 or 3 several times.
The finals should be David C. and Syesha, but probably won't. David C. should win this year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see David A. win. The tweens do have buying power, so they may boost his first album up to #1. After that, I just don't see where his career goes.

Color me weird and a cynic, but I thought the song about change, plus all the waterworks and drama over the song and civil rights, were designed to subtly support Barack Obama. His campaign theme is "change." Pretty black girl warbling about "change" and crying about civil rights on the nation's #1 show equals enormous free advertising for the Obama campaign.

Wolf, it made me sick and I thought of Obama, too. In fact last night I said—Barry is booking her for the convention as we speak. I've been all over the other Idol forums today and even Vote For the Worst (some really funny stuff over there if you can stand the lingo) thought she really needed to get over herself...civil rights movement=Syesha’s Idol journey. (rolling eyes)

In fact last night I saidBarry is booking her for the convention as we speak.I wouldn't be at all surprised to see her get an entertainment spot at the convention. AI has SO jumped the shark to the political left last year and this. As a result, I'm less inclined to watch the show. I record it, skip over all the filler and commercials, watch the performances, maybe some of the judges' comments, then erase the episode. Next year I'm not sure I'll even bother to do that much.

What was advertised to be "the best Idol yet" has left us all very disappointed. The never-ending pimping for David A. is so over the top it is comical. I miss Brooke...as I listen to The Who and recall my college days. ;)

He does have vocal control, but he sucks wind when he breathes in. It annoys the crap out of me every single time. (Someone apparently got to him and made him stop licking his lips incessantly, at least.)
I prefer David C to David A, too.

Thanks for asking about how things are going with me. Still job hunting. Finances getting strained, but I'm hanging in there. I have an interview at 2:00pm today and one tomorrow.

Wow..you are more and more critical every week. Bubba Oreilly by Cook gave me chills....I think you’re too harsh on him...he defintely made the second song his own!

I agree about the Who song. I really liked it, when on the surface, it seemed like a weird choice. The Duran Duran was pretty bad, though. (Of all the songs in rock history....? what was he thinking? He’s nowhere near as good looking as 1983-era Simon Le Bon, and that’s pretty much all that song had going for it in the first place :)
