Syesha Mercado

Her second song is Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Going To Come".

Wow--she's really bringing it tonight. Wearing a floor-length gold dress. She looks and sounds like she belongs there.

Randy: The first song I loved. This one, not as much. Didn't like the arrangment. Felt disconnected. Fell flat for me. (What!?)

Paula: Paula gives her a standing-O. Beautiful. You've turned this into a superstar performance. Welcome to your dream, Syesha!

Syesha begins to weep.

Simon: I have to be fair. I'm going to agree ... with Paula. I think Randy, with all due respect, got that utterly and compeltely wrong. (amen)

Syesha is overwhelmed now.

Seacrest: Randy, thanks for the buzz-kill.

Jason Castro

Sings (butchers) "Mr. Tambourine Man".

This isn't much better than his Bob Marley abomination.

He forgets some of the lyrics too.

Randy: You're not in the zone tonight.

Paula: It is what it is. Obviously it didn't blow us away.

Simon: Jason, I'd pack your suitcase.

Damn right. Go home.

I agree and I normally don’t care for her.

That’s really sad when you think about it. Every song David A sings becomes elevator music. Long, drawn out, boring, tedious. Nothing livey, vibrant or young from the youngest contestant. He’s worse than Princess P. Remember her? He’s a kid that doesn’t know how to have fun and express it.

That’s funny. When Jason started singing the la-la-la-las, I thought to myself that’s too bad...Syesha could have saved those tears for next week.

I think Cook is safe, although probably in the bottom one? Castro was just so miserable, never seen anyone practically beg to be put off.

...and give us an extra episode of Bones tomorrow night.

I love Bones. One of only maybe three or four shows I watch regularly these days.

The guy in the tux who used to do the powerball announcements could do the results:

Welcome to the American Idol results show! Tonight results: Jason Castro is leaving us! Congratulations if you had him in the office pool for this week! See you next week! Bye bye!

Jason’s getting a zillion votes from me.

I got the feeling the kid wants to go home. Who could blame him with the crap he is having to take in front of millions of people.

I say, put him out of his misery and let him go home and be with friends and family.

I thought David Cook was the best. I thought that Syesha was very good though. But she’s more of a glamour, torch or broadway type singer. No Idol.

Same with Monchi, he’s not going to be selling albums. But he’s very talented. Great voice.
