I like your way of putting it. I'm so tired of the hoopla and glitz that, to me, Jason is like a breath of fresh air. He's not going to scream at me or dazzle me with his vocal runs. I can listen to him sing without gritting my teeth; I don't feel like he bombards me. Brooke has the same quality, but she's trying so hard to be perfect that it's less relaxed. When she performs, she's tense like an Italian greyhound on the platform at Westminister.
I happen to think that Jason is one of the sharper knives in the drawer. He knows that he's not really the American Idol type and that he's not going to beat Monchichi. He appears to be overwhelmed that he has struck a chord with the public and truly surprised when he gets through each week doing things his way, not what he thinks the PTB want.
What impresses me most is that he's a college student. He is preparing himself for a REAL JOB somewhere down the line. I wonder if Michael Johns has spent his almost 30 years chasing this dream and has nothing to fall back on. I hope not.
Yes, he does.... ;-)
Here's another "must see." I think even Simon was tearing up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkcE6Vy-e6c&feature=related
Very well said! ";^)
“I actually find Dreads really sweet.”
A bit to my surprise, I do too. I liked that Hallelujah song he did, and his version of Over the Rainbow was much preferable to that of the McPhee (though I prefer the Hawaiian guy’s original version). He’s a nice-looking kid, too, with those blue-green eyes. I just wish he’d get a haircut! :)
Seems there are still a lot of mis-dialed numbers.

And a beautiful, sweet smile. A haircut, please! He would gain a new voting demographic.

An interesting thought. But would Dreads lose the teenyboppers if he cut his hair? I think they’d stick with him, don’t you?
Didi Dh and I watched the Green River Killer movie last night. We started it at 10:15 or so, said how we didn’t think we could watch all 4 hours, and then proceeded to watch the whole thing. It was riveting. (We did skip all the commercials via Tivo, which cut down on the time.)
SJ..good Monday morning. Just read in the paper that tonight on CMT at 10:30 EST, starts a new country themed idol like show..”Can You Duet” to find the next big country duo. Contestants compete in pairs, and one of the judges is Naomi Judd. Many on this thread like these types of shows, and are big country fans, so they might find it of interest, or at least enough so to set the TIVO. Could you ping the list to this post? Thanks..
He needs to sign songs where he doesn’t have to go “over the rainbow” with higher range. I am comparing what’s left of the current group and I was puzzeled by the judges’ adulation for this guy.
I would add style. I liked Amanda the biker chick. I thought she was a good singer. Some probably voted for or against her appearance.
Related to your comment, I think that as she moved along in the contest, her audience was more limited than the others including guys with dreads, who seem cute to 13 year old girls with cell phones.
Agreed. I focus most on singing talent and on-stage poerformance. And I rated her lower in both. But I see how she’s getting votes from many. I’m not the typical demographic and I don’t do power voting on my text messaging. LOL!
Oh, my gosh...he’s adorable! It’s like that Seinfeld episode when Elaine says—you mean I could be dating that hair? I must show my parents...I can’t stop giggling over my father (79) saying in all seriousness—I just can’t get over his hair!
