I am really thankful that I was late watching the show....so I was able to DVR it...............and fast forward was totally necessary since last night's theme was Inspirational Songs, and it could not have been more cheesy.
Actually....tonight's stupid show I think, will make last night's "cheesiness" pale in comparison. "Idol Gives Back" will be THE cheesiest in history...so I'll be passing on that. I don't care to hear the "liberal" agenda OR their songs.
And how many thought that Paula's boobs were going to pop out of that dress and join the idols on stage for a song? Someone needs to fire her wardrobe consultant...I think her dress was a bit too tight.
Anyway....HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THE TOP 8:

Michael Johns - "Dream On"

Dream On....was what I was doing while he was singing. I thought he did pretty good and I like his stage presence and enjoy his voice. I am liking him the best out of all who are left.
Syesha Mercado - "I Believe"

I believe Idol contestants are just stupid, when they pick past Idol contestants songs to sing. At least her voice isn't as annoying as Fantasia's...but I did fast forward through most of it...I just couldn't take it. I'm not likin' the diva thing.
Jason Castro - "Somewhere over the Rainbow"

Somewhere over the rainbow someone is smoking some doobage. I said it before and I'll say it again, no matter what instrument he's strumming, he still sounds the same. And those dreads.....no thank you.
Kristy Lee Cook - "Anyway"

Anyway you look at it, I really liked her performance tonight. She didn't do so well in the softer parts of the song, but man can she belt it out. Country suits her best.
David Cook - "Innocent"

Innocent he is not...and he sucked tonight. Ugh...again, I had to fast forward. And that jacket looked like a straight jacket on backwards. I'm glad the judges knocked him down, for once. He is NOT all that. And when he showed the message on his hand...I reached for my barf bag. Oh and I'd like for someone to give ME back those 5 minutes I had to endure watching him sing so terribly.
Carly Smithson - "The Show Must Go On"

The show must go on and IMO girls should not be singing Queen songs to do it. I didn't like Carly's version and she is too much like a Celin Dion wannabe, that I'm totally turned off to her now. And does she own any shirts with sleeves? I do however, like the makeover with her hair. She needed bangs.
David Archuleta - "Angel"

He's so good at acting like the little angel....it makes me want to hurl. I just can't stand that stupid grin he always has. And I hate how the judges pimp him now. He is NOT that great. Yes, we get it, he can sing, but I wouldn't buy a record or a song of his, even if you paid me. His songs all sound the same, and they are so booooorrrrriiiinnng, not to mention most have a "message" I'd rather not hear. I forwarded through most of his song...so I didn't catch all the "runs"...thank God.
Brooke White - "You've Got a Friend"

Well I don't have a friend in my damn DVR...right as she's about to sing, it cuts off. What's with that? It happened on "Dancing with the Stars" too. Just as they are about to announce who is getting kicked off ....it cuts off. How annoying. I had to go online to see Adam Corolla got booted - bummer. He was SO entertaining and funny...I'll miss him. But I digress, I missed Brookes performance. Something tells me though that I didn't miss much...and it probably sounded like all her other songs do.
Gotta love Paula's.....

AI often runs long... I suggest padding the DVR recording by 5 minutes.

I downloaded “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel really-long-Hawaiian-name, and have listened to it several times this morning. I love it. Now when I hear Jason’s version, it makes perfect sense, and he does a great job. Last night I was really taken aback by the ukulele and how different the song sounded.
To: ChocChipCookie
Yeh, I love that version. But Jason just annoys me now, because everything he does, sounds the same. There’s nothing special about his voice, imo.

I just replayed Dread’s SOTR and have to say—I LOVED IT! Silly moi, I get so busy typing away on FR that I fail to really watch and listen when Idol is on. I've been singing it all afternoon. Also, I thought Kristy Lee was fabulous.

I’m still debating whether or not to watch the Guilt-a-thon tonight. If I do, it’ll be like stopping to watch a train wreck. And it will provide hours of entertaining sarcastic posts here on our thread.
I for sure won’t be donating.

ROFL!
I predict that Screecha will go this week. Randy will be deeply saddened. Has she visited his casting couch?

Hey! That song is older than me...and that’s pretty damn old!
I’m in the same age group as Miss Didi’s mom.

And ya know what? It is not so bad to be compared to Tiny Tim. Tim was a gentle caring compassionate man.
Anecdote: in the 60’s he was in an auto accident on the Carlisle Pike near Harrisburg, PA. He was taken to emergency at Holy Spirit in Camp Hill. (I lived there at the time and had many friends who worked at HSH).
Tim was the ideal patient. He had to stay a couple of weeks, and everyone got to know him. They said he was the kindest, funniest man they ever met.
From that time until his death, ( a couple of decades), Tim had dozens of roses delivered to HSH Emergency Room every year on the anniversary of the day they saved his life.
Jason seems to me to be the same kind of sweet soul.

My mom is waaaaaay older than you, Palladin...well, I haven't talked to her yet about this week's show. No doubt, she had goosebumps for her little David A. pet. And I'm sure she didn't vote for the boy with “treadlocks.”

A very entertaining review. You should do this for a living!
I hadn’t seen Carly’s makeover until I read your post. (I was taking a potty break during her appearance last night.)
I could still hear her screaming from twenty feet away through a locked door with the exhaust fan going...(if ya catch my drift.)
She still looks satanic to me.

If Carly’s got a tat like that on her arm, you can bet she’s got a tramp stamp.

Spoilers for tonight's show...from MJ's Big Blog:
As a finale, the Idols perform Shout to The Lord. Theyre dressed in white and backed by a gospel choir. The song ends with a shower of white confetti.
From TV Squad:
"Nigel Lythgoe came on before the taping to get the audience psyched up. He mentioned that they had two video packages from the Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to show the live audience. They also had a video package from John McCain but there was a technical problem with it so the live audience won't get to see it. He mentioned that Idol has a higher standard for production quality and the McCain package would be replaced by the time the show airs on Wednesday." (snip)
