"Burying ones parents is one of the hardest things that people have to experience in life. I had to do it back at the end of 2004 and it sucked." March 31st marked 4 years since my father's passing. Much more difficult than I thought it would be.
So sorry to hear about Elliot's loss. You could see the closeness between he and his mom. She did a good job.
My prayers for Elliot and his family.

I agree. I thought that was the most fun season, too.

"OMG. I would cry if I got to meet Dolly." My Hubby was social chairman for his fraternity and one of his jobs was to meet her at the airport. She's a hugger and he definately remembers how that famous chest felt pressed against his stomach! (she pretty short)
I missed last night show... Had to see how Roger (former Alabama football player, Roll TIDE ROLL) did on Biggest Loser. IMHO, Dolly is an awesome songwriter.
Dolly trivia: She uses her long fingernails as a musical instrument when she writes songs!

I'm not going to bother with a recap because the entire night was so boring. Not one of them managed to "connect" with the song they chose.
Updated overall rankings:
- David C. (n/c)
- David A. (n/a)
- Brooke (n/c)
- Michael (n/c)
- Carly (+1)
- Jason (+2)
- Syesha (-2)
- Kristy Lee (-1)
- Ramiele (n/c)

After watching the show a second time and really listening, I found Carly to be a bit screechy, Syeesha to be dulllllll, little David to be acting too old, David C. to be very talented and Michael J. to be fab—love his performance! According to Simon’s “forgettable” factor, the only song I keep singing is “Jolene” and it was the first time I’d heard it. But then you know I love Brooke no matter what she sings. ;)

Do you think so? I thought the best season was with Pickler, Daughtry, Elliot, Hicks and McPhee.
What a fun year that was! What does everyone else think? Most entertaining by far. Don't forget Bucky was a part of that season too.

I like "Coat of Many Colors" too, but... nobody can sing that like Dolly. Except perhaps Emmylou Harris.

Michael Johns? The Village Voice has an article today that hes gay. Some jilted lover did a tell-all.He seems a little Englebert Humperdinkish to me......sings ok, but no stage presence. He holds the mic funny and moves strangely- kinda girly.

Raise your hand if all the songs (and contestants) are starting to sound the same every week?
I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm not sure who else would agree with me, but I myself, wouldn't spend money on an artist who has an album full of songs that sound the same and/or sounds just like most of the other artists out there today.
I want an artist who is unique, different than artists of today and someone who stands out and entertains me.
The best thing about last nights show, was Dolly. I love her, she's so great and humble.
The contestants on the other hand, were boring and somewhat repetitive to previous songs/performances.
I'M GETTING BORED WITH AMERICAN IDOL, BUT HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THE TOP 9:
Brooke White - Jolene
She doesn't stand out, is not unique and sounds the same as last week....and the week before....and the week before that..... Nothing to remember here folks....and Simon was right...there was no emotion in the song...it was lackluster, imo.
David Cook - Little Sparrow
It looks like a little sparrow landed in his hair. Again....although he has a tendency to stand out, he's not unique (mostly takes versions other artists have done) and all his songs are starting to sound the same to me, too. And the "versions" he does, are today-style type versions, which I can't stand. It's too bad, because he's really good.
It's a shame that mainstream music has gotten so mediocre, because now this kind of stuff is popular, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. It sucks.
Ramiele Mulabay - Do I Ever Cross Your Mind
You cross my mind when I hear how bad you sing...and wonder why you're still on AI. She too sounds the same every week. I'm surprised she's made it this far.
I see her going home this week.
Jason Castro - Travelin Thru
Hopefully he'll be travelin' thru and be gone soon. He really sounds the same now, on every performance. And watching him, with his trusty guitar, you'd think it was the same performance, except with different lyrics. It's so.......boring.
Carly Smithson - Here You Come Again
And here she comes again, sounding just like she did last week. Again, I'm just bored with the same sounding songs. There's nothing unique, nothing that stands out and nothing that really interests me. She sings good, but it's boring and I'm SO not into the Diva thing. And I agree, she does look horrid in those outfits (without sleeves). And on a side note...the tattoos on her arm are a turn off to her singing, too.
David Archuleta - Smoky Mountain Memories
Top 24 Week Week before Last Last Week This Week
He must have smoky mountain memories...because he forgot to take off that jacket that he seems to be wearing EVERY week now (ok it's not the same jacket, but why does he have to wear a jacket over his shirts all the time?). At least this week he chose a song that wasn't so "messagy"...but again....he sounds the same with every song and all his songs are so boring. He's actually starting to really bother me.
Kristy Lee Cook - Coat of Many Colors
Kristy's songs do not have many colors, as they too all are sounding the same. I just don't know with her...will she stay or will she go? Last week was her best performance, this week was forgettable.
Syesha Mercado - I Will Always Love You
While I don't always love her, she did do well with this song this week. And unlike the others tonight, she did not sound the same as her past performances. She has lungs and she showed that tonight. I liked it.
Michael Johns - It's All Wrong, But It's All Right
Yes, AI is all wrong tonight, but you Michael...you did all right. You're the best performance this evening, imo. Blues is your thang. Keep it up.

That poor kid—he sure has a lot on his plate. I didn’t know about his brother. Talk about humungous stress! I hope they find out what’s causing the spike in his blood pressure.
P.S. Congrats on your new grandson!
