After watching the show a second time and really listening, I found Carly to be a bit screechy, Syeesha to be dulllllll, little David to be acting too old, David C. to be very talented and Michael J. to be fab—love his performance! According to Simon’s “forgettable” factor, the only song I keep singing is “Jolene” and it was the first time I’d heard it. But then you know I love Brooke no matter what she sings. ;)

After watching the show a second time and really listening...

I've found that's the best way to evaluate their performances. I agree with you about David Cook's and Michael Johns' performances. I thought Michael's performance was the best last night, following by David C., and, believe it or not, Seyesha. The reason I put her third is because she took a huge risk singing the one tune most identified with Whitney Huston. I thought Seyesha did a creditable job trying to reach for somewhere between the Dolly and Whitney versions. I think she pulled it off, but there's no way she could have expected good reviews from the judges. Probably not from the public either.

This morning on the local Fox affiliate here in Los Angeles, they reported that David C. was taken to the hospital after his performance. He was sick before he went on, and the show's medics checked him after he came off stage. He was having heart palpitations and his blood pressure was very high. At the hospital, they gave him some medication to lower his BP and released him. The show's medics are keeping an eye on him. Here's an article about the incident:

'American Idol':David Cook released from hospital, on meds

"American Idol" contestant David Cook was rushed to an L.A. hospital after last night's show. He was experiencing stress-related heart palpitations. He was later released with a prescription for medication to lower his blood pressure.

Despite feeling light-headed, Cook went on with the show and was taken to the hospital after his performance of "Little Sparrow" to be checked out for high blood pressure and anxiety.

Hey, who wouldn't be anxious?

He's currently back at the L.A.-area hotel where the "Idol" contestants are staying this season. "He is fine and not at the hospital," another show insider told E!.

Insiders add that another factor adding to his anxiety may have been news about his brother, who is fighting cancer.

This morning, Ryan Seacrest told KIIS-FM listeners, "I don't know what he was stressed about. He said yesterday that his blood pressure was high and he wanted to get checked out after the show."

Oh, but David wasn't the only brave soldier last night. Ryan hurt his knee when he bashed his leg against the metal railings while running across the set. And he also stayed at his host post.

Seacrest told listeners this morning, "That's gonna leave a mark!"
