Note:

Check with your state agricultural and the forestry department for trees that land owners can get to plant, you would need the land owners signature, they are cheap and must be ordered ahead of time, will be delivered to central points in the areas that they have orders.

I have seen many on the lists, that bore fruits that were edible.

I grew pine seeds in an old aquarium, we got them out of pine cones that were found on a trip.

My brother in law grew up on Holbrook, Arizona. Every year he goes up there to get pine nuts. He said his dad used to go to where these trees grew wild, and back the truck gently into the tree so it would shake, and the pine nuts would fall into the truck bed. They might have spread a couple of bedsheets under the tree to catch more of them, too. You have to hull them as you eat. They were sooo tasty! Whole Foods sells them too, already hulled, but wow, they are $8 a pound!

The nut tree growers near here use a shaker to harvest the pistachios, almonds or walnuts. I'd love to see them doing it, I've only heard of the technique.
