I was BANNED from the Democratic Underground (DU) today.
I was banned for posting the following thread:
Subject: WOW!!! Sen. Obama is playing us like a fiddle!
Text: Sen. Obama's team set up this whole Race debacle from the get go, just so that he would have the stage set for this absolutely stirring speech on race relations. I have never seen the race card played so brilliantly in all the history of American politics. BRILLIANT!!!!
If the media gives this speech as much play as the racist Rev. Wright issue, and they will...he will find the new momentum he needs to secure the popular vote in the dem primary, no doubt. This man may even be our next POTUS, judging by the brilliant political savvy his team is displaying and his heaping helping of charisma, he is looking very very good!
Can any of you see this backfiring? I simply can not.

After being referred to as a "troll freeper," I wanted to join this forum as a liberal and see what it is you folks are all about. So, here I am, letting you conservatives know that there are liberals being banned by the [expletive deleted] from Liberal forums because we do NOT agree with the path Sen. Obama et al. have chosen. I am not the only one that has been banned for speaking out against these race card tactics.
Many of us are disgusted.
I'm sure it will not be long before I'm banned here too, but I will play by your rules until then.

This would make you a classical liberal, which is probably a lot closer to a modern conservative than a modern “progressive”.
Classical liberals tend to be rational and can mount a passionate argument without maudlin emotion.
I’ve had many a pleasant and good discourse with classical liberals, discovering that we aren’t a whole lot different after all.

Some say as much as 20% of the posters at DU are LOUSY FREEPER TROLLS. I guess I am not a very good troll as I can’t keep my mouth shut and expose myself.

Welcome to FR. If you write with facts and reason from evidence, you should be welcome here for a long time. Poster “LiberalLarry” has been here since 2001 and I often enjoy reading his posts because he is informative (usually) and thoughtful (usually) even if I may still disagree with him 95% of the time.
otoh, there is a bizarre insulting troll poster named “MurryMom” who is kept around FR as a kind of amusing house pet even though she virtually never makes an intelligent contribution to honest discussion. The mods allow her to keep us amused with her inanities.
I hope you will emulate more of the “LiberalLarry” model than the insulting “MurryMom” model — then you will likely be here as long as you still enjoy it, and you may even find it very worthwhile.

I would agree that Free Speech must be protected by the law of the land. However, I expect society at-large to operate on a reward-shun schema. Instead of the racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright having a wealthy church with members as socially prominent as Oprah Winfrey, he should have long ago been shunned to the point of finding social acceptance among none but a handful of like minded sociopaths hiding out in some remote wilderness compound.
Some would frame the racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright's dogma as patriotic dissent. Perhaps, his dogma would be socially protected and sanctified if his rhetoric did not color every reference to human beings with racial bigotry. I am not speaking of patriotic dissent here. I would posit that patriotic dissent is alive and well in every political party. There are lines in the sand, however, that encourage us to be socially responsible.
Racism is one of those lines drawn in the sand.
